Guys, do not be surprised if this Qatar team makes it to the RO 16 at the next World Cup.

yeah but 1976 we played 4 games in sum against south yemen, iraq, kuwait and china - and not beating like qatar beating basically every asian powerhouse (sk, japan, sa).

The quality of teams they have played has been much better. Let's be honest.

This is a matter of planning. Its not about talent. Its about having a long term plan and sticking to that no matter the hiccups.

Keep in mind this Qatar team is the same one that got knocked out of the World Cup 2018 qualifiers and couldn't even make it out of the Asian Cup group in 2015.

Please remember that Qatar is doing this in the UAE. That would be like Iran winning a tournament being played in Mississippi.

Watching this game makes me realize even more , how poor and unlucky we really were in the Japan game.

Qatar is playing much better football than Asia’s quality.
Just wait and see how much better they will become.
They are playing in the South American championship this summer as guests , then they will play n the
Confederation’s Cup in 2021 as well.

They will have some treamendous experience in time for 2022 WC.

does this result mean that Japan sucks too, and it has to do with their culture? Are they also worst than Maldives?

Hopefully this result holds, I got to remind all these so called "TM fans" on twitter and here....

We achieved that against the top 5 of Asia. They have done it against the top 23 of Asia.

Not only that, we played all those games AT HOME. Qatar has played this tournament in front of hostile crowds throwing shoes and bottles at them!

I am also watching this match.
Japanese are not playing as good as Iran's game. Qatar should have scored two more goals. Given both teams, I wish Qatar to win.
Japanese did not play a fair game with Iran. A player hit the ball to Pouraligangi when he slipped or one of their players dived and when he saw five Iranian players around referee he jumped and kicked the ball and luckily fell on the head of another Japanese to score the first goal.
                            Referee.
Rushan Aramatov from Uzbekistan is referring. He refereed more than all referees whereas Faghani was given only two games. UAE tried to play politics. I am glad they lost by four goals to Qatar.

hats off to qatar - the money they have poured into their football looks like it has finally paid off, and this is just the beginning for them too.....

This team is the product of the money they invested into their football 10 years ago. It is now coming into fruition.
Expect other Arab teams to be head and shoulders above Iran in the near future.
We are constantly concentrating on our best 11 players, whilst they have been concentrating on players that aren’t even born yet.
In the beginning, there was nothing. And God said: "Let there be light!" And there was still nothing, but you could see it.
