A small group of us said here many moons ago that Qatar ought to be respected for what they were doing: investment in infrastructure, youth system, and their league.

The butthurt crowd, some of whom are active in this very thread, immediately started with their usual bs: but they have foreign players, they are spending petrodollars, they are employing undocumented people/slave labor, their league sucks, it’s Gutter/Qater, and et cetera.

I don’t like the fact that they naturalize players or are involved in slave labor either, who does? But you can’t deny that they are actually trying to improve their football and that they care.

What are we doing? Is spending money on proxy wars better than naturalizing foreign players or paying people less money than they deserve to build stadiums? I mean, what makes us think we are superior to Qatar in current times?

I can't read these stories anymore, it's like we are spending 80% of our money into war, just a reminder, the by so many members beloved Shah, also spend millions into Lebanon into Shia extremist groups, he also had a good relationship to Assad and we were also in god damn wars involved like in Oman, where even more Iranians died than in Syria, could we stop this bs, like we are involved in these stories since yesterday? This match just proved that Japan was very beatable and had our players not got a brain haemorrhage during the match and stopped playing while Japan was attacking, we could have beaten them.

Of course there were several factors that contributed to our defeat. Not having Taremi and also CQ choosing a flawed strategy and of course luck!

I saw how Qatar changed to 2-3-5 when defending, putting 5 players in defence in order to close down the flanks. They just shut down Japans attack that way. But man I am so sad we were not in this final. We had the team and should have been there. We beat this very Qatar team right before the start of the tournament in a friendly.

having watched this game makes me realize even more , how poor and unlucky we really were in the Japan game.

Qatar is playing much better football than Asia’s quality.
Just wait and see how much better they will become.
They are playing in the South American championship this summer as guests , then they will play n the
Confederation’s Cup in 2021 as well.

They will have some treamendous experience in time for 2022 WC.

Good for Qatar ! This will also raise their value in the Copa America and i hope they do well for Asia.

One thing that i think isn't good for them is that the lack of competitive football for over two years until the Confederations Cup, they will play in the first round of WCQs but there aren't any real competitors for the the top Asian teams in that stage.

I mean they have the momentum with them and if they get good results in Copa America than friendlies and qualifiers against second tier Asian teams aren't going to be a good build up to their current form.

1) Just got back from the stadium and there were so many Iranians in the stadium who had bought their final tickets after the game against China.

2) What I learned from watching these two teams play was that no one was complaining to the referee. None of the Qatari players attacked the referee and demanding a penalty and only VAR came to their rescue. Japanese after conceding two goals were relaxed and playing their game and weren't getting anxious or angry. Their fans continued to support them through out the match and even cheered for them at the end of the game.

3) Also fair play to Qatar. I didn't see any grass rolling after they scored 2 goals and even when Japan scored.

4) It was also really sad to see that no Qataris were in the stadium to support them. All those who were supporting Qatar were from Oman so kudos to them and nice gesture by Qatari players to carry Oman's flag along with Qatar.

Whilst Qatar is doing everything right with investing heavily in their grassroot football, something tells me this is a One Hit Wonder team, the Greece of Euro 2004. Because we all know Arabs just don’t have great football in their DNA.
The Saudis also invest heavily into their football and as we see time and time again, they absolutely suck.

I feel happiness Japan lost. Iran had to play Qatar today we had win today the Asian Cup 3:1 against Qatar and Masoud would bring up the CUP

As I wished before that Japan would lose it has happend!

Congratulations to Qatar a fantastic team to defeat Japan. Once more I am sad and wish IRAN was the WINNER!
