probably woulda had a dozen or more goals had he cut back a bit on style points near the goal-mouth and instead focused more on a forceful/ruthless finishings..! that is really all he has left to add to his plethora of mad attacking skills to be attracting mega-million move to elite clubs of eu football..!
never have i doubted his insane abilities and mad potentials, yet i'd pegged down much of his recent surge to the massive improvement he has made to his personal Fitness/Stamina levels since the WC, in order to be nearly as lively & effective in 90th minutes as in minute 1, and off course Zenit's Highly Attacking Overall Style of Team Play along with vastly improved supporting cast..!

really nice article about azmoun and dzyuba's partnership and friendship.
As Krasnodar looking nice in CL, and seem set to have a strong showing in group stages (if they dispatch kos as expected), it has got me thinking about how zenit will look in CL.
Zenit, although I do enjoy watching them, have rarely seem totally cohesive, especially when building through midfield. Their strength is in the teams experience and ability to churn out results. In big games vs krasnodar, lokomotiv, cska, spartak, etc their record is incredibly solid. They always find a way. But in europe last season they were reall poor in that loss to villareal, and that is my fear for them in CL. Azmoun and Dzyuba cannot afford to waste any chances there.
Semak has a really hard decision to make imo. Does he sacrifice a forward (likely dzyuba) from starting xi to go for more counterattacking lineup with an additional midfielder to compensate for Zenits weakness in that department, or does he keep their stunning partnership, and just decide that having an additional average midfield player wont make that much of a difference anyways for them. Out wide, playing Driussi and malcom, on paper seems really attractive but both are much more like Second Strikers than hardworking wide midfield players that typically fit in 4-4-2. Having said that having all 4 of malcom, driussi, azmoun, and dzyuba on the pitch at the same time would make zenit extremely dangerous.
In the end a lot will depend on the matchup. Thankfully they have avoided pot 1 teams, but could still get Real Madrid, Atleti, Spurs, Dortmund, or napoli from pot 2. Against any of those teams they would probably just pack the midfield with barrios, ozdoev, kuzyaev. But for most of the teams in pot 3 and pot 4 zenit could field an attacking lineup and feasibly create a ton of chances.
Ideally vs those calibre of teams (Salzburg, Genk, Gala, etc) i would consider :
--------------------Lunev---------------
smolnikov---ivanovic---rakitsky---douglas
Malcom------Barrios----Kuzyaev----Driussi
--------------Azmoun-----Dzyuba-----------
but vs top teams leaving ozdoev in the midfield and sacrificing one of malcom, driussi, azmoun, dzyuba might be wise.
IMO, the key for them is the fitness of kuzyaev. Without him they have no playmaker. He is both a quality playmaker and very high intensity, work rate player off the ball. He was injured for all of sardars time at zenit so far, but when fully fit he is probably russias best all around midfield player (with maybe exception of golovin). They havent bought a new playmaker either so seems that they are gambling on him being healthy too.
