They are in europa league place right now. But their technical quality of squad is a lot better than this position suggests (6th).

They beat liverpool comfortably 2-0 at home, tied 1-1 away. They tied barca the other night, but should have won the match.

The links seem to be legitimate, all from italian sources, not a mention of iranian ones. Napoli are in a rebuilding process of sorts. Their CBs Kouliably and Manolas are 2 of the best in europe, they have many new, high quality midfield players from last 2 windows: Demme, Elmas, Lobotka to go with the already highly rated Zielinski, Ruiz (good chance he goes to Barca/Real), and Allan.

In the wings they brought in lozano from PSV who has been a failure, expected to offload at least on loan this summer. Politano from Inter seems to have better prospects. Insigne is captain and everpresent, fantastic player. According to the same reports where azmoun is mentioned, they are likely to go for Boga from sassuolo as another wing option, he is very highly rated ex Chelsea player. Also makes sense because amin younes from Ajax before is going to leave, another bust.

Which brings us to the CF spot. Mertens is getting older at 32, but as seen from his brilliant goal vs barca can still do it at top level. He is going to sign short term extension. Llorente is leaving, and of these latest reports, there is a good chance the main CF Arek Milik will leave as well. There is definitely a place for azmoun here, seems that they are keen on him and have sent/are sending scouts to monitor his progress.

I think they will for sure make Europa League next year and definitely have quality in their squad to return to CL, maybe even dump barca in the current ro16.

Still for me best option for azmoun is bundesliga, a team like Leipzig if they get rid of werner. But Napoli, Lazio,Sevilla, and even Everton if opportunity arises are all good moves for him now, although italian football would probably be the least ideal fit for him (compared to germany especially) a team with profile of napoli, high calibre players, can offset that.

Azmoun is also well versed in counter attack defensive systems/schemes which gattusso an implement from berdyev days.

they also have petagna coming next year. So that would mean potentially Petagna Azmoun Mertens as Cf options. Interestingly, petagna has some similar charachteristics to dzyuba, him and azmoun up top are two young forwards that could be a good combo. Sometimes napoli play 4-4-2 and sometimes 4-3-3 so azmoun petagna could be good option.

well, none of the articles are suggesting a done deal lol. Merely that he is one of their top 2 options as of now for CF spot, and scouts have been sent to monitor his progress this term. That is not some crazy rumor about big offer already being submitted or transfer being close. Considering these are just italian sources, and trustworthy ones at that, it seems it is probably the reality as well. He is on their shortlist, definitely truth to that. If he moves is a totally different story, but yes it should increase interest in him in general.
