If Dzyuba is going on a free transfer at the end of this season as his contract is running out, do you think they will let Azmoun go. Obviously as we have said they would probably sell for a good fee but they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

again gazetta reporting that first contacts with azmouns entourage have been made and talks were positive.
Napoli approaching zenit with an offer seems to be dependent on other factors, namely the futures of milik and mertens. While giuntoli (sporting director) has his targets like azmoun already identified, moves will not be made until the future of the current players are 100% decided.
Additionally, as it is still uncertain how covid will affect prices, it is plausible they will wait until players of similar calibre to azmoun have been bid on, giving them a better gauge of what his true market value is now.

Napoli 'move for €15m Azmoun'
Napoli have reportedly made their first moves for Zenit St Petersburg star Sardar Azmoun, who is rated at €15m.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are ‘focusing’ their attentions on Azmoun - a long-term target - and see him as a possible replacement for Dries Mertens.
As for the Iran forward, the newspaper assures he is open to the switch and ‘feels ready’ to play in Serie A.
The 25-year-old is quoted as having a valuation of ‘around €15m’ and the Partenopei have initiated the ‘first contacts’ for his signature.
However, La Gazzetta warns Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will not formally negotiate for the player until Mertens’ future is addressed.
What is not a problem, on the other hand, is Azmoun fitting into the club’s non-EU quota.
Leandrinho is likeliest to make way after failing to make a single appearance in three years at the San Paolo.
Failing that, the pinksheet claims Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on a reunion with Hirving Lozano.

great italian article detailing why azmoun's profile is so interesting for napoli. A lot of specific match examples, including from benfica, lyon, and leipzig matches. they basically reach the conclusion that his very smart runs and double movements to lose defenders coupled with the acceleration to exploit the space he has created (Evidenced vs lyon, leipzig) in addition to his great link up play and leap make him a blend of the styles of mertens and milik.
They also reach conclusion that while he has mainly played in 2 striker systems, he could fit well in gattuso's front three, or in a 2 with petagna.
With regards to latest rumors about the move, the original gazetta article stated that the preliminary contacts with azmoun HIMSELF were positive and he indicated he wants to join them. For 15 million EU, they will not be able to do a deal, but maybe that is their starting point. I think in all honesty they will have to get between 20-25 mil EU range to prize him away from zenit.

russians already considering sardar likely to leave. Confirming that zenit are enterring negotiations with serious clubs, and that azmouns agent is a big hitter with extensive contacts to napoli which make move even likelier.
Considering ways to replace him, kokorins return, driussi move to CF, or Shomorudov from rostov.
If they could actually sell azmoun for around 20-25 and then replace him with the uzbek for half the price, they will have done some solid business.

Zenit should just go for Shomorudov, he is the carbon copy of Azmoun. I followed his growth and development throughout the years in RPL, and he (like Azmoun) work very hard.

I would like to see Napoli play 2 up top like @ Zenit. Until recently, I was very much ignorant about Petagna's physical presence in combo with his height (6 ft 3 in) until I did some research and watched a couple of his clips. He could be the Italian Dzyuba of Napoli in terms of hold-up play, feeding Azmoun, aerial ability, strength, heading, finishing etc... I have to say I was really impressed by him and his record screams experience.

I really doubt that napoli will ever have a front two as first option. Gattusso wants to build a highly mobile front three, and has already given a lot of importance to the work of the wingers (Insigne,Politano), and a very strong midfield three. Zielinski, Demme, Fabian Ruiz are indispensable and the heart of the team. But it could be a good plan B to be able to go two up top.

zenits italian fitness coach gave a positive review of sardar to neopolitan press.
"Azmoun is a striker who looks for spaces, is very cunning, participates in the maneuver and has a very good header."

corriero delo sport again reporting that azmoun has gattusso, giuntoli, and ADL's approval as top target.
Naples sports radio station also contacted Khalil azmoun today, who declined to talk about potential transfer out of respect for those suffering from covid. "We can discuss the market after football begins"

I think that the interest is again definitely real. At this stage he seems like their top target. Immobile will not leave lazio, belotti will be much more expensive than azmoun and is not a superior talent. Icardi seems out of the question. From the recent italian media reports it seems azmoun himself has indicated he is keen on a move too. The sticking point will be price. If zenit are reasonable they will strike a deal for 20-25 mil EU, which is azmouns true value in today's market. If they are unrealistic and demand a lot more than that, its difficult to see napoli going for it.
On the other side, 15 mil will not be enough to seal a deal and rightfully so. Maybe napoli want to start negotiations at that value, but it will not get them far, because it wouldnt even represent a profit for zenit on azmoun (they bought him for roughly same fee from rubin). I dont even see napoli thinking they could actually get him for that sum.
