I don't know what I wrote before but looking on it now, I would say Jalal Talebi and marhoom Pourheydari.
Their TM from 1998-2001 basically did nothing but bring in garbage Persepolis and esteghlal players and take TM back to the early 90s. We didn't make WC 2002 because of them. They tried introducing some young players but most of them turned out to be party animals and failed.

Branko actually introduced alot of young players, but he had no idea how to handle egos. He let Karimi and Daei split TM in 2006 and ruin our World Cup. Injuries also f***ed us up but he was responsible too.

What's funny after 06 wc , bronko was finally experienced and finally qualified to be tm coach..
Now looking back
if bronko stayed for 07 ac tm would of advanced far in that tournament...........

I have a soft spot for Pourheidari for getting possibly the best performance out of the worst group of TM players in the 2000 match against Denmark. In an alternate universe, Daei retires between 2004-2005 instead of playing those stagnant last two years where he just couldn't move

He becomes coach after the spineless one leaves TM directly from Germany and at least bloods some new players, then a more results-orientated coach like Ghaleneoi takes Iran to 2010 world cup and more Iranian players get moves to Europe

Queiroz takes over in 2012 and the rest is written by fate

of resignation, basically either dehdari or us....the super conservative iff at the time backed dehdari, but fans expecting dehdari to quit and the chants of dehdari haya kun tm o raha was at pp and ss matches since tm barely played games.
Dehdari military style personality decided to stay as head coach since he didn't want parvinto succeed him.

What did it cost tm to invite new replacement some what young players
1.ac 88 finished 3rd(back then only 2 groups)
2.same core players failed 88 Olympic q core players faile qualify 90wc

Abedzadeh was gone get call up to tm anyway.
REPLACING mamad khani with bavi its like crossing taremi off tm list and go with azadi.
not having Hamid derakhshan,Shahin bayani,behtash fariba ,mamadkhani,Shahrukh bayani,panje ali ,Ali dosti,amir galenoie,Reza ahadi
Was unbelievable and it cost us ac trophy,Olympic appearance and wc appearance ....

he had protection of the iff, gov and the media and it was no no to talk about his way of coaching and players kept silent...but over the years some players have started to talk but media will never deeply get into it...... fans hate towards him was partisan first time ever red and blue fans hate hc with unity,and the day they snow balled him and he used health issue not coming out for 2nd half...

Siros gayegran and seyed ali eftekhari both from gilan got to start under him and that opened the door for other shahrestani players getting invited ...dehdari is less hated among shahrestani tm fans over this fact......

The answer in at least modern times

1) Branko doing basically nothing of substance with the most talented TM generation we have ever had. Any of our current iterations pale in comparison. We had legionnaires in top 5 leagues in attack midfield defense, we had young prospects and veterans, we had a nice variety in skillsets players brought to the table, and we had a reasonable group for WC progression.

2) Daei’s WC2010, he had probably the least talented TM squad I have ever seen but simply could not get them to play any semblance of organized football. Perhaps my most painful memory of TM to date, the home loss to Saudi, was under him.

Pourheydari was a gentleman but his football was stuck in the 80s. He also believed in that horrible hidden rule that you have to call up equal number of Persepolis and Esteghlal players. Guys like Helali and Hamadani were starting under him for goodness sake.

still he wasn’t as bad as Talebi. Talebi f***ed up our 98 team and also failed our Asian cup 2000 team because guys like helali would yell at him, and bench karimi. He also had zero discipline as some players were hanging out with Beiruti ladies at 3 am and no one said shit. Not to mention he threw Mahdavikia under the bus.

I still don’t get why alidoosti signed that letter. He’s a classy guy. Out of those who signed the letter, Allidoosti and panjali are classy guys. The rest, especially Bayani, mohammadkhani, and derakhshan were nothing but hashieh. If you give them an inch, they take a foot.

Players thought they can do whatever they want and abuse the rules so Dehdari reacted harshly.
