To read passes from the midfield that give them a clear crossing opportunity, when going wide, or that give them a clear scoring opportunity, when cutting inside towards goal.
To double up on the opposition winger, particularly when he or she is being "double-marked" by both the team's full back and winger.

The prototypical winger is fast, tricky and enjoys 'hugging' the touchline, that is, running downfield close to the touchline and delivering crosses. However, players with different attributes can thrive on the wing as well. Some wingers prefer to cut infield (as opposed to staying wide) and pose a threat as playmakers by playing diagonal passes to forwards or taking a shot at goal. Even players who are not considered quick, have been successfully fielded as wingers at club and international level for their ability to create play from the flank. Occasionally wingers are given a free role to roam across the front line and are relieved of defensive responsibilities.

The Palace match was an education in the role of the winger or not. 1-1, it was a draw with a winger the calibre of Zaha (benchmark). Antonio and Traore are two more wingers of EPL standard, because of recent improvements by both players. Solly March and Alireza Jahanbakhsh will both have to improve to get up to scratch.
here we go again with you C&P bs, generic Stats from the web to make some vague, bizarre point..!
the points i made in my last post still stands, Football is a Team game and it certainly take 2+ to tango..!! fact is Pothead's tactics isnt anything similar to AZ relying on strong wing and cross attacking game approach, hence simply doesnt suit ARJ's strengths as footballer and off course he'd struggle to adapt in a league where the competition is a massive improvement over his last and to boot his chosen team tactics doesnt favor his strength as a player..!

Brighton with 69% possession today, 82% pass accuracy, at HOME vs sheffield United.

      Shots on goal :

      Brighton - 2
      Sheffield - 2

And a 1-0 loss at home for brighton.

Excellent production from the offensive players that continue to perform light years ahead of ARJ.
saw the highlights and they were super lucky not lo loose 3 or 4-0 with like 2 VAR disallowed goals against them and couple of more 1v1 close misses ..! looks like their local homie, center half Webster got exposed massively, beat like a drum left n right and played off the pitch.... still doubtful if many BHA fans would opt to bench their over-priced hack for the next match though...!!? now if he was a foreigner..... they'd probably want to loan him off right away or demoted to bench permanently..??
didnt see the match but i could guess that Ali woulda likely been a safer and more useful choice at RWB than the slow-ass, played-out Montaya..!!?

and once again BHA show their ceiling as a club and struggle against the Top half BPL opponent..!

i cant wait for Ali's exit outa BHA, though still not hopeful it is happening until this summer..!! hopefully an emergency situation forces a respectable EU side into coming to his rescue this winter transfer and saves him and us fans from this miserable ass situation ..!

If you look at the numbers "the right way", then BHA has improved.

For example, if you compare the number of points they earned in games they won this year, to the number of points from games they lost last year, then it is clear that BHA has had a major improvement in that regard.

Whatever is necessary to justify a 5 year contract extension for Potter and essentially no playing time for ARJ this year.

Another factor people forget is the massive underperformance of some of the top 6 teams this season, several of which have been in a serious crisis. Man U, Spurs, Arsenal all underwent major slumps which saved BHA from the usual paddling (though their top 6 win record is still abysmal, I think the worse in the league these past 2-3 years)

They wont get as lucky in the second half though with United finding some form, Spurs with Mourinho and the title race beckoning.

They have one point less than they had last year after 18 rounds. More possession doesn't mean better results. They really should have kept Houghton.

CQ could have told them THAT!

I think you guys are forgetting that Brighton sucked after Christmas last year.

Sure, they might currently have one less point compared to last season at this point, but if they continue with this rate of points for the rest of the season, they will still end up better than the last.

Potter is in every way a better coach than Hughton

And if Iran win the rest of the games and the games In the next round, and the following games, they will end up world champions.

Yes, there is a possibility that BHA will do better the second half of the league. BUT that requires a much deeper and better team. That, they do not have and passing the ball around more will not make up for it. Barring any decent winter signings, They will continue to do worse. Anything is possible, but finishing in mid table is not probable.

There's absolutely nothing indicating that Brighton's form will take the plunge it took last year. Their squad is better, their coach is better, and their team plays a more fluid game.

If all you said was true, they would have had better results even in the first half. They do not. The rest is speculation on what may or not happen.

This team has played together under this coach for about 6 month now... Hughton was on his Third year at the same point last year.

their squad is not better this year, they sold several of their key players from last season and replaced them from their own bench
