What the coach should’ve said is that Taremi would’ve been the top scorer if they would’ve let him take his first five penalties that he won on his own.

Then finish by saying that if it weren’t for injuries he would have a comfortable lead as the top scorer. Stating it this way which is truthful would make Taremi look even better.

If I was the coach I would also add that Taremi is world class because considering all of this, he might still become the top scorer and if he fails it will be by a goal or two which is incredible considering that Rio Ave is a 6th place team when strikers in teams like Sporting, Benfica and Porto can’t perform on his level. This is how you promote your player so you get huge offers.
