I thought CQ was an idiot for inviting him passed 2016 (idgaf about leadership skills, his play wasn't good to justify it), I think Wilmots is even a bigger retard for inviting him now.

Ghloizadeh, Rezaei, Jahanbakhsh all could have played that role better.

Always arguing with ref, getting cards, playing like hot trash, and then ORDERING other people around. His body is literally fat and stiff and can hardly run. If he was such a noble person he would gtfo himself and let a new player, young player, come take his place. Seriously one of the least likeable characters involved with this team, and a huge reason for its downfall if this guy is the leader.
His time is over for sure but I haven't him multiple times and after AJ he is by far the nicest and most humble Iranian player I've ever seen so no need for that BS.

a lot of the members here like him because of his 'movie star looks' and 'leadership' despite the fact thats he's sucked sine 2010. at least ali daei waited until the WC to retire, but idk why the hell shojaei is still on TM. he should have let after 2014, or at least 2015 with Ando and neku

this is on the coach ..... you have a player prone to getting carded, and he keeps him in until guess what ? yes until he gets carded.

this is just basic 101 coaching

This coach is not a real coach.

                    just watched the highlights

to his defense he was trying to kick the ball clear and the iraqi player comes outa nowhere head first ... pretty much putting his head where he'd be kicking the ball away..!
at most you can call a foul and fk in that instant, you can't book the player for clearly an incidental contact especially when the opposing player is mostly to blame for that contact ..!!
also take another look at the winning goal and see how blatantly iraqi player shoves PAG to the ground clearing the area for his teammates winning header and ref completely not see it..?
clearly WM had not prepared his TM for such a physical affair ...!!
with this goozoo ref im not sure if it was a corruption ? or plain inability to do his job right..?
i think it was simply too big of a task for him to be reffing this heated rivalry and his flaky at best performance was very much indicative of it..!
he ignored two very nasty elbows and a blatent headbutt and other hacks on Massoud earlier in the match too..!

The foot was high but did he actually make contact? The aroghi player is holding his face which I don't think was hit.

                        yup
after the first 25min or so, he was clearly sucking wind too and was late and slow to everything, from passes to clearing the ball to tackling to everything ..!! i dont know how this idiot kept him on that long..!!?
sub of Milmo made little to no sense too..!!? did he receive a knock or was he injured enough to be needing a switch..? his replacement totally rid .... right after he came on and on the conceding of the winner lat on..!

yea but there was nobody even near the contact area, until the iraqi player lounged his head towards it from massoud's blind spot ? and like you said it doesnt even look like he made contact with his head..? even if so he hit the ball first anyhow....making it an incidental contact at best just a FK given ..! certainly not worthy of booking a player who is already on yellow..!!

As I mentioned in another post, when I saw Shojaei's name in TM lineup I lost my hope. Due to his long record of bad incidents, I had the feeling that if TM loses it would be because of one of his overacting, stupid behaviors and/or playes. We needed taught, hard working players like, Torabi, Jahanbakhsh, and Ansarifard gainst Iraq not a loser like Shojaei.

I stick by my claim. A person who has foresight, is honest with themselves, and somebody who is cares about future/next generation after them would not leech themselves onto tm like Masoud has done. If he was a player like CR7 or some estesnai player who was still carrying TM until very recently, I would understand him overstaying. Obviously in that case a player still thinks they can contribute and doesnt realize their decline until its too late.

Masoud hasnt contributed in meaningful way to TM for a very long time. That is just reality. If he was really so noble he would step aside and allow the next generation to take his place. IF he wants to contribute to TM in meaningful way, I am all for it, he is a player who has experienced a lot in europe, international stage, for better or worse. We can use that. He has connections in spain, he speaks the language, he can go through coaching program there. It will add new perspective to iranian football to have spanish trained coaches.

But to continue to accept TM callups, when his body is objectively not in state to contribute (how many 50/50's was he late to today??) is just pathetic. IF we lost this match and a younger guy played CAM, at least we could say in the future he could learn from it and help the team more. Mohebbi wasnt impressive vs bahrain, but he learned from it and showed himself today. Nourollahi is a younger player relatively, today we lost, but moving forward this experience will help him and give him new perspective and confidence. What moving forward will Shojaeis inclusion do for TM??? Nothing, just sucking up space and getting on everybody's nerve. It is a selfish decision that comes down to his own personality.

Guys what about Amiri? Even more useless than Shojaei in my opinion.
