Lot of African countries (even smaller ones like togo, gabon..) gave world class players to Europe

Last but not least, the political situation created strong stereotypes on Iran, making our country a carpet that the whole world (even small countries and some iranians) mock and wipe their feet.

This doesn't necessarily mean they're racist, they're just buying into stereotypes and giving less wiggle room for mistakes when it comes to players from Iran that have a negative image in the media.
Managers spend more time watching the player than all of us. Players actually train the whole week with under staff eyes while we only see them during a match.
If they thought the player would make them closer to getting a good result they would pick him whatever is race is.

What you wrote about stereotypes is your own stereotype about foreign manager judging an iranian player over anything other than his footballing ability.
All managers care is getting results and picking a team which they think would be the best to compete based on the players showing at training and during matches.
And of course they may be wrong.

"Ivan Leko on the run from sanctions"

The big money: that is seen as the main reason for Ivan Leko's departure to China. But here and there another reason is also suggested for his 'flight' from Antwerp.

Hugo Camps in particular shows in Het Laatste Nieuws that there is much more to it than that Leko can just strike the deal of his life. "I don't want to say that Ivan Leko has fled possible sanctions in the 'Clean Hands' football scandal - a night in jail is not enough for such suspicions," he says in his column.

But by phrasing it that way, Camps is of course insinuating that that is precisely the case. Whatever he confirms with the rest of his column. "But it can no longer be denied that there is shit on the marble. And the arbitrariness of football authorities is well known.

Ivan Leko was to leave for Shanghai SIPG FC. The board of Antwerp FC therefore has to look for a trainer again. VoetbalPrimeur.be was looking for the suitable successors.

          Frank Vercauteren
Vercauteren has an interesting profile. He can build on the foundations that Leko brought to Antwerp. Fast, attacking football, something that Vercauteren also stands for. He now lives with his family in Russia. But if he gets the offer from Antwerp, he will certainly consider it. Earlier he would have been eyeing for the free place at Standard.

          Bernd Storck
Storck is especially high on the list of Standard fans, but will also be a suitable coach for Antwerp. He has the necessary capabilities and has already shown that he can let a team play football. Storck is currently coaching in Slovakia. There he is doing well with a provisional second place.

          Wim De Decker
De Decker is certainly good with the fans of Antwerp FC. He brought The Great Old back in first class and will not shy away from an adventure at 'his' Antwerp. He knows the club like the back of his hand and is a man of the house. The question, however, is whether he will bring Antwerp to the top. At KAA Gent it did not work very well, and it is also not certain whether he can build on Leko's skeleton.

          Mark van Bommel
Van Bommel showed himself to PSV with attacking football. He is also good at dealing with players. His name counts in football, something Antwerp likes. He could certainly build on the contemporary vision of Antwerp FC. His experience is a bummer. Although he could be a good successor to Leko.

          Marc Wilmots
Wilmots can count as a name in Belgian football. He is a good friend of D'Onofrio, and has previously appeared as a successor to Bölöni. As a club coach, he didn't prove too much, but he gets the benefit of the doubt. With the Red Devils he had lows and heights, just like in his other international periods. An interesting track.

'Antwerp wants to overpower Club Brugge and play it out with a stunt'

Royal Antwerp FC is serious about conquering Club Brugge. Owner Paul Gheysens wants to win the Belgian national title and is willing to go far to realize his dream.

This is evident from the names circulating to succeed Ivan Leko who left for China. According to Het Nieuwsblad , Michel Preud'homme, Frank Vercauteren, Marc Wilmots, Ricardo Sa Pinto and even Patrick Vieira are on the wish list of The Great Old .

Especially the names of Preud'homme, Vercauteren and Vieira catch the eye. Those are not the first to be the best. Antwerp hopes to change course with the appointment of a top coach and keep Club Brugge from the title. We have to wait and see if that will work.

            In goal
Although The Great Old barely managed to keep the zero twice in nineteen match days, it is particularly strong under the crossbar. With Jean Butez, Luciano D'Onofrio brought one of the most sought-after goalkeeping talents from the JPL to the Bosuil last summer. The Frenchman was hardly to blame during the first round, on the contrary. With Alireza Beiranvand he also has a strong competitor, even though Ivan Leko overtly dropped him after the lost squatter with Club Brugge (0-2). Insiders following the training claim that the Iranian megastar shows amazing things at times.

Iranian Media reports that Leko already signed. Is that BS or true? Do we have any updates regarding this?

Funny how a few weeks after he tries to screw Beiro's position in Antwerp he has gone! These sort of goings/leavings don't happen over night. He must have had a definite knowledge of it months prior to actually leaving. It makes you wonder he deliberately tried to sting Beiro before leaving.

                          Frank Vercauteren new coach Antwerp

Franky Vercauteren becomes Antwerp's new coach

Antwerp has found its consensus coach: Franky Vercauteren (64). He said 'no' to Genk and Standard for family reasons, but to the Great Old he said 'yes'.

“Vercauteren is a very good coach with a lot of experience, but he doesn't have our DNA. Plus: we knew he was negotiating with Antwerp. ” That's what Standard CEO Alexandre Grosjean said yesterday afternoon when he introduced Mbaye Leye as trainer. Not exactly collegial, to throw the internal kitchen of a competitor out on the street, but it was leaked that Franky Vercauteren (64) was a candidate for the Great Old. Even more: he turned out to be the top candidate. Surprising and not surprising.

                          Champion maker

Not surprising, because it was already clear that he was the ideal consensus figure for Luciano D'Onofrio and Paul Gheysens. D'Onofrio has always appreciated Vercauteren and the fact that he almost brought him to Standard in 2011 and they had extensive talks for Antwerp in 2017 already showed that he wanted to work with him at ease. Gheysens was looking for a big name, preferably after Leko again a champion maker, preferably also a gentleman. Vercauteren fits in perfectly with the profile that the chairman had set. If you look at the Belgian coaches - and they did that at the Bosuil, because the new coach must be there immediately, so best know the competition - there was actually no bigger name available. Vercauteren has already won two titles with Anderlecht (2006, 2007) and one with Genk (2011).

But surprising, Vercauteren, because he said 'no' to Standard last week and also to Racing Genk in September. And twice he dropped out for family reasons. After all, he now lived with his Russian wife and their four-year-old daughter in Samara - 3,000 kilometers from here - and the corona crisis made it too difficult to take his new family to Belgium. Antwerp would also get a 'njet', wouldn't it? So no. The fact that he was well advanced with those two other top clubs proved that he was open to a new club, and that has now become apparent. At Antwerp, which is financially stronger than the Rouches, they assumed that they could convince Vercauteren, et voilà: he gave his word last night.

                          Prove wrong

For Vercauteren it will be his fifth Belgian employer as head coach, after Anderlecht, Genk, KV Mechelen and Cercle Brugge - he was a sports advisor at OHL. And now he can prove to Purple & White that it was wrong to put him aside in August and fully draw Vincent Kompany's card. Getting to Belgium quickly was no problem, but now the question is whether he should still be quarantined. But the most important thing is that the new coach is found in time.

if it has the d'onofrio guys full aproval/is his man then I think tentatively good news for beira.

Remember it is d'onofrio who spearheaded the move to bring him from Iran, and was also constantly putting pressure on leko to play him sooner.

i suppose any coach in place of Legoh was gonna be a good news all around for Bey's situation in Antwerp/Eu career for that matter ..!
he was bound to be benched permanently and shipped back unceremoniously had that goozoo Leko woulda remained and the club looked likely continued their decent run of results till end of season..!? so doubt anything else woulda forced his hand to give ali a genuinely fair shot ever again under his leadership at the club..!
