It’s a shrewd move by iff to place a bet ..!
They know as well as us they stand little chance of being awarded hosting rights ..!
But the attempt itself will naturally give more clout to future bids for such, for if and when they’re more qualified & ready for hosting an AC tourney..!
IMO, currently sever international sanctions is the only real thing standing in their way of a successful bid....!& that all could possibly change in short few years after this November’s elections in the US ...!??
I don’t think the women’s attendance issue is a big deal anymore..! The all-important precedent for that has already happened a little while back ..! Sure there will likely still be the disgusting oppressive & embarrassing separation & caging of our ladies in the stands ..!?but IFF will have a hard time imposing such restrictions on the non-iranian female fans.... no naturally they’ll be forced to ease those restrictions for our ladies too due to FIFA/AFC mandates..!
If by some miracle all chips fall into place & we get a hosting rights sometime in ftb distant looking future, I’d expect it to become One the Best ever in history of ACs in terms of overall attendance & atmosphere..!

Have you seen what has been going on in Saudi as of lately? Huge concerts and major entertainment venues are pouring in like wildfire. They are creating multibillion dollar tech and entertainment hubs.

We don't have a stadium with 100k capacity anymore. Maximum is close to 80k.

there is a severe lack in stadium and facility funding which wont help our case in hosting the asian cup. until there can be some more funding (example: the trash quality cameras at every stadium) there is no way we'll have an opportunity to even be noticed by the afc

your list is pretty accurate. Sahand would need considerable revamping but it is really due for it. Ghadir was revamped super nicely 1 yr or so ago but then recently slipped back badly into a shit state. Imam Reza would be a flagship stadium for the event and one of our most modern.

If we were serious about hosting anything, azadi would need to be revamped again (highest grade modern seats especially, I know in 2018 they finally did some structural updating which is good). Sahand would need a total makeover. And we would need to construct ONE/TWO ADDITIONAL stadiums. One would have to be in tehran. We are long overdue a 40k ish seater stadium to remove some load on poor azadi who has everybody and their dog play on it each weekend.

We could probably cross out ghadir since foolad arena is already there, and make one clean 25k stadium in Kish, complete with training base which our own TM could use in future. This was discussed previously before bad sanctions I think.

Kish has a lot of necessary infrastructure to host events already anyways. Similar to how foreign teams go to turkish resort areas/Dubai/Doha for training camp Kish could be a similar destination.
