yup. When people ask why gholi should be so key to our plans moving forward and what differences are in his play to before look no further than that goal. first guy out on the press following defended corner, has the energy levels to bust his ass up the pitch, the raw speed to make sure nobody catches up to him, and the composure and technique to slot away (unlike the many easier chances lower level players like Fall and Nicholson keep fucking up in recent weeks, again today).

Kaveh also with a great header, although it was unmarked. This was actually a very entertaining and highly physical game. charleroi were good value to win this game 3-1 but a really terrible goal conceded by their GK (2nd one) where his positioning was so off then a retarded hand ball in dying mins prevented them taking all 3 pts. Regardless they are back in solid form. Lets not forget this mechelen team today are not to be scoffed at and drew with Club Brugge 2-2 last week. One thing was super apparent was how tight and physical/aggressive their guys were dealing with kaveh and gholi. Kaveh in particular was taking hard hits from defenders all game but his perseverance paid off with a great header and now he is at 6 goals for the season, just a few behind top scorer.

He is now at 4 goals and 4 assists for the season, roughly 1/4th of season gone. Imagine if he hits something close to 15 in both categories

I do think we need to dispel some of the myths that La Liga is still the free-flowing attacking league we were used to watching back when Nekounam was in Osasuna. The style of the league has changed to be more defensive and rigid, which has contributed to the gap closing between the top teams and the rest of the pack.

So far all our boys have been solid, except I feel kaveh could have made more of some good transition moments.

Milmo is solid on D, and a lot of the attack go through his side, but so far his crosses have been mainly off target.

Kaveh is not having a good one. couple of off target passes in the final 1/3 on which killed a good counter.

One thing I really like about gholi is his one touch plays under heavy pressure from behind. It seems like he will get bodied and doesnt have enough time to turn, maybe at best can lay it back, but he manages to give sharp 1 touch passes FORWARD breaking the pressure from opposition mids/defenders behind him and suddenly charleroi are in behind with space to run.

He did this for TM too. As he continues to improve his final action I believe he can really be full package wing/attacking mid.

Kaveh should have had an assist there. Brilliant one touch thru ball and fall fucks up again 1v1.

And then in transition milad should have had an assist. Great run, nice pass to pick out bezus and he fucks up the 1v1.

Gent looks stable at the back and comfortable playing counter now and taking charleroi pressure

Looks to be over. 1-0 win for gent. Charleroi had good chances to draw but failed to take advantage, although by and large gent defended well.

Thought Gholi was still excellent. Milad very solid and unlucky not to pick up an assist tonight. Kaveh also could have had a couple assists but overall I think he can be more decisive.
