sardar and zenit are both playing well. They do so much better vs the lieks of cska, krasnodar, rostov. Better teams that play more european open style. Similar to how zenits CL performances were actually a lot better than most of their league games vs weak teams.

They have weak midfield line that struggles to break down very deep blocks but have good individual quality on wings, defenders, fwds that can trouble teams that play open against them

hes fine. Azmoun winning all aerials frustrating rostov. He just returned the favor of a few of their fouls absolutely decking norman.

I think they got him mad and might pay price shortly.

what a defensive play off FK by azmoun.

His defensive play, both defending set pieces and pressing off ball, and his link play are such underrated aspects of his game that are really top class and a huge asset most forwards dont have

azmoun subbed at min 85. A very good game after a couple lowkey ones. Scored one and missed one, normal. But his miss didnt affect his overall game at all. He won everything in the air and linked up zenits offense perfectly. He is now proving he can be very efficient in 1 fwd systems that most of europe uses too.

and lovren with a sick header makes sure of hte points for zenit.

just your friendly reminder this is same lyon Sardar TORCHED in france, and zenit then slapped around in russia. This same lyon Deservedly ahead and dominating city. The quality of their midfield is insane.

But apparently azmoun doesnt score vs big teams and zenit are terrible and if he doesnt leave tomorrow hes a failure. If not for the most bizarre sequence of events away in benfica in the final second half zenit would have progressed instead of lyon.

BTW their main CF dembele who everybody has been ranting and raving about for months has been benched in these crucial games, Im sure some top euro club will now proceed to purchase him for 30 mil EU and pass on azmoun bc he is black young and french. And then we will sit here and analyze every chance azmoun misses even as he clinches another top scorer and try to justify teams passing him up for inferior talent.

well credit to dembele to come off the bench and score two. Hes on 3 CL goals now, 1 more than sardar (3 more games).

Lyon improved throughout competition. Proves now for sure zenit had a very difficult group and in hindsight didnt do that badly.

And so much for all the PL best league in the world blah blah blah. Just because you have most money doesnt make you best.

Franco German semis should be interesting.
