Even if Messi went to Feyenoord, they wouldn't be considered title contenders..

Wait, the source for the Feynoord thing is varzesh3?
Wouldn't read into it too much then. Not that it's impossible, just that we've been burnt by these "leaks"any times before.

I’d rather him play consistently for Feyenoord than whatever the hell he’s been doing for the past few years

We’re a year away from the World Cup so consistent playing time is of utmost importance

Exactly. Plus everybody is (as always here, went it comes to Eredivisie) exaggerating how awful Feyenoord is. Yes, they are not at their best atm and will not be a title contester.

But they are stil the biggest club after Ajax and PSV in The Netherlands. With a fantastic field, huge fanbase (maybe the biggest in the Eredivisie) & AliReza knows their newly appointed coach pretty well.

Nobody expected Feyenoord to win the league couple years ago, but with a few good transfers, its always a possibility you shouldn't overlook that easy.

The investors (called "Friends of Feyenoord") are willing to put some money on the table to improve their squad, so it could be a U turn compared to last year.
Iran deserves better, TM deserves better.

With the news being official that Berghuis signed signed a contract with Ajax until 2025, Feyenoord will get a €4.5 million fee (+ additional €1.5 bonuses) for selling their best player. With that money they will make an offer for Jahanbakhsh between €3 - €5 million range, Brighton surely will accept this offer and it will be up to Jahanbakhsh to decide if he wants to go to Feyenoord. Ideally he can follow the same path as Berghuis, do well at Feyenoord, and move to Ajax in 2 years time, depending if he does well at Feyenoord which I'm sure he will since he is way better than Berghuis. Let's see how this develops.

Now Dutch media seem to report it as well:

                    Monday, 12 July 2021 at 13:54 • Last update: 14:09

Alireza Jahanbakhsh must become the successor of Steven Berghuis at Feyenoord, Feyenoord Transfermarkt reports. The well-informed Twitter account reports that a construction is in the works to take over the 27-year-old Iranian attacker from Brighton & Hove Albion. Jahanbakhsh has already been associated with a return to the Eredivisie, where Ajax and PSV would also have been interested at an earlier stage.

Earlier on Monday it was announced that Berghuis will make the switch to Ajax. The Rotterdammers will have at least 5.5 million euros left over from the departure of the 29-year-old attacker, although that amount can rise to 6.5 million euros. Feyenoord has switched very quickly and with Jahanbakhsh it seems that they can already tie the successor of Berghuis. It is as yet unclear whether there is a rental deal or whether Jahanbakhsh will make the definitive switch to Rotterdam.

Jahanbakhsh's contract with Brighton & Hove Albion will continue for the time being until mid-2023. Feyenoord Transfermarkt reports that a construction is being made so that the Iranian attacker can make the switch to Feyenoord. It is not the first time that a return to the Eredivisie beckons for Jahanbakhsh. De Telegraaf reported a year ago that Ajax had 'thrown out a fish' at the attacker, while PSV also showed interest in him.

Jahanbakhsh left the Netherlands behind in the summer of 2018, when Brighton & Hove Albion paid nineteen million euros to take him over from AZ. The 44-time Iranian international's stay in England was not a resounding success. Jahanbakhsh never managed to become an undisputed starting player and has a total of 61 appearances for the Seagulls to his name, in which he accounted for 4 goals and 2 assists. In the past year, Jahanbakhsh played 25 matches, of which 10 as a starting player.

Not thrilled about the Feyenoord news, if he was going back to the Netherlands it should have been Ajax, PSV, or even AZ Alkmaar who finished 3rd last season and are in the Europa league qualifiers not Feyenoord who finished 5th, and are in the lousy new European conference league..

Twitter accounts are basing all of this on the varzesh3 article.

So looks like the Feynoord thing is not entirely bullshit, although good to hear he has other offers.

Crossing my finger for other EPL offers.

Andy Naylor followed up on that tweet saying

“Jahanbakhsh was recently on international duty with Iran. It’s unclear whether he will be involved in next week’s training camp in Scotland.”
