I mean who do you think should have been called that, given injuries to Beira+ARJ, chinese covid situation with PAG, and qatari covid restrictions with Omid+Ramin+Mehrdad should have been called up that wasnt. Alipour+Moghanlou just arrived in portugal so they are not really a callup option. Salimi unavailable.

I guess given these only person that was available and got snubbed so to speak was Karim. But then again we have seen him 100000x in TM and in recent times he was quite horrible. Kaveh and Ghaedi have been pushing for a while and at least deserve some game time now since we finally have a friendly.

New guys mainly :

Ghaedi : Probably the best performer in PGPL from offensive standpoint, creativity this season. REally improved his end product and decision making and also showed that in ACL. Deserved a callup.

Gholami : Very solid season overall from him. Had an offer from Boavista in Portugal but SS would not sell/he decided to stay for another season. A young and very physical CB, who is solid on the ball. I guess you could ask question if he is more deserving for callup than cheshmi or not, but I think cheshmi also is going to qatar and would encounter covid restrictions.

Nemati : Showed himself very well in ACL. Was a more advanced mid under branko and became RB recently under golmo. Decent technically and runs his balls off.

Shoja : Best CB in Iran with Kanaani this season. Yahya was key in his development, as he finally is demonstrating better decision making and self control to go with his aggression and strong physical play. On the ball he is one of the best passers. In aCL his passing accuracy was up their with likes of cazorla. Was MOTM vs Al Nassr and also excellent vs Paktakhor and Xavi's al Sadd. Him and Kanani are a really strong partnership helped massively both individually and as a pairing by yahya's great coaching as an ex cb himself. They are both excellent on the ball, fast covering space, beasts in the air. They dealt with algerias starting CF, Moroccos best CF, and Swiss CF derdiyok who just signed recently after long spell in galatasaray and 60+ caps for switzerland very well.

Najarian : him and Aghasi (not called) are foolads key young defenders that Nekounam really rates. Najarian is a very fast and physically solid fullback. Doubt he gets any minutes though.

Midfield is Ali karimi, nourollahi, Hajsafi, Noorafkan as the options. Noorafkan was captain of omid and I personally dont really rate his game, he got sent back to iran following weak spell in charleroi. He can cover LB position and covers ground well, ok physique and nice left foot but imo will not be regular in TM in the future unless something drastic changes in his game. Rest are regular callups.

I know!! It so sad how little he has been used. The guy is a tank, can shoot, pass and dribble. Hopefully with no shojaei or dejagah he plays as CAM, him linking up with azmoun or taremi would destroy any Asian team. Nobody seemed to fully trust him yet hopefully that’ll change.

Guys I just spoke to my friend in Qatar. He says the rules there are extremely strict and any resident travelling abroad has no choice but to self quarantine for 14 days at a Hotel under strict watch regardless of their job. This could potentially have something to do with Omid and Ramin not getting called up. I hope Skocic mentions it if this is the case.

We have Hajsafi, who has more experience in TM. He is also only 30 and most importantly, functional. Dejagah played like 5 total minutes in the 4 qualifiers? He wasn’t even with the team for one of them, got injured in training and decided to go to Germany.

couldnt agree more. We can use him to qualify for the WC and if by then he is in good condition and no injuries and he can even be great asset in the WC. IF we make it out of our group which I dearly hope we will.

Other than sending rockets to the stands for nasa, what good does hajsafi do for TM ?

If we are looking as in players with caps then there is plenty of experience in that team and no need for Dejagah. Hahsafi has 109 caps, Amiri has 52 caps, Azmoun has 50 caps and Taremi 45 caps. These friendlies give the coach a chance to test out some new players , especially as some of our Qatari based players can’t play.

Then by the time of the qualifiers we are going to have more choice hopefully with some played just moving to Europe, Delfi and Allahyar hopefully getting more game time at new clubs too. What a strong future we have , I am very excited to see what our team will end up like in the distant future.

Skocic is going to have a positive dilemma with all this choice.

This is what I think re: Torabi as well. He's a suck-up and the name I'd drop from this list.
I think Omid and even Ansarifard have something to offer. Other forwards are better than Ansarifard but he's versatile, a low drama player and can keep his composure right up until the last kick of the game.

GK call-ups were great because Niazmand and Abedzadeh can play one game each.

Why isn’t Shariati or Salimi called up? Instead, 3 defenders with 0 caps (Gholami, Nemati, Najjarian) were called up. Why is a 31 year old Khalilzadeh with just 5 caps called up? A player who is hot headed and mistake prone in previous appearances for Iran. Why not call up a proven player such as Ghafouri instead considering the lack of quality fullbacks in the squad? Considering Khalilzadehs age, there is no excuse to pick him ahead of the latter.

Why is Noorafkan with 1 cap called up ahead of Ezatolahi, Zahedi, Shekari, Salmani, Moghanlou or Dejagah?

WHY is a 29 year old Ansari called up??? This is literally a waste of a bench option that could’ve and should’ve went to one of the previously mentioned players considering that Azmoun, Taremi and Rezaei have the position locked. Why is Ansari called up ahead of Delfi, Ansarifard, Alipour or Allahyar???

We can’t afford to waste the few chances we have with friendlies with these types of call-ups. This was the chance to experiment with the squad considering that Jahanbakhsh, Beiranvand and PAG are injured.

Not to mention Rezaian, Ebrahimi and Mehrdad which better be because of the pandemic.

We have so many european players now. This monkey calls up 14 PGL players.
