Also our central midfield of Nourollahi - Amiri - Hajsafi is such a despair to watch, struggles to control space even against some random U23 uzbek side.

I cant stand to look at Kanani ever since that braindead moment in ACL semis where he stopped defending just to run to the ref, directly leading to Japan's first goal

Gholizadeh is head and shoulders above everyone. Set up Azmoun perfectly for the goal. My MOTM so far

Everyone has been fine besides the midfield being a bit weak. Nourollahi and Amiri have an excuse due to extreme fatigue, but Hajsafi doesn't really have one. Really don't see why he was called up over someone like Dejagah...

Back four been excellent, starting with the keeper Niazmand. Good distribution. Sadegh and Milad have been good and Kanaani and Shoja been solid as well.

Our defending needs a bit of improvement, center of midfield felt a bit stronger than usual, mainly bc Gholizadeh was insanely good.

I can't remember any of Azmoun's other team melli goals being from outside of the box, great strike. Hoping to see a bit more out of Taremi (and getting Rezaei some playing time), and Ghoddos in for Amiri. Happy to see Sadegh get some playing time, he has made good runs and crosses so far

Gholi was amazing. I also thought Nourllahi did pretty good considering the fatigue. Good goal by Azmoun. Good confidence booster. Expect him and Taremi to come out firing in 2nd half.

ALSO let's give some credit to Milmo. Many don't notice but 90% of Uzbek attacks came from there. No one can beat him for speed in the pitch and even in all of uzbekistan. He cut all the counters they had even if he was behind. The right winger and RB are getting tired and frustrated.

We can’t be too critical of a TM that has not played together for almost a year? Uzbecks are average team to say the least relying on crosses and the odd shoot outside the box.

Impressed with Mimo and Gholi - for the likes of me I cannot work out who is playing on the left wing? It can’t be Amiri as he’s found more in the central midfield. I hope we see changes, this is a good game to test as many players.

ps: Iran’s kit can only be described as “Vahshatnak”!

Hajsafi was crossing and passing, hoping that it would land to a player. He has no technique, intelligence or game plan.

And when you compare his plays to Gholizadeh, you clearly see what a garbage player he is.

I really want to see Amiris overall pass completion stats for TM guy can’t pas to save his life ffs and Haji Safi is being Haji Safi but Norollahi is also plying bad but if anything I’d drop Amiri forsureeee and pick up Eza try out Asadi after him playing games in Europe and give Ali Karimi a shout again

My thoughts :

Defense : Back 4 excellent. each of them. Shoja and kanaani dealt with everything in the air and marshalled shomorudov well. Moharrami and milad were both excellent defensively and offensively, blocking crosses, and switched on to their back post guys. Offensively both had nice forays forward, especially moharrami who added totally new dimension to our game with his speed and some fantastic crosses and dribbling sequences. If serviced properly he can do even more.

Midfield: SHIT. we were playing with 8 men this half. Nourollahi and amiri as I predicted look so fucking tired. Nourollahi at least has been slightly better than the other two, with some good defensive contributions and getting a couple fouls to relieve pressure but his passing has been awful. HAJSAFI=SHIT. No excuse for him. Amiri has played like 500 mins in the past week, so I slightly understand why he was so terrible, but hajsafi has no excuse. Every time we finally started to keep possession he would fuck up with the most amatuerish shit again.

Niazmand was ok. Distribution could have been slightly more accurate but not really tested much besides the shot that hit the post.

Skocic needs to sub hajsafi and amiri at half time. I never want to hear somebody mention experience and leadership again, our most experienced and "leaders" are our worst players since a long time. First shojaei,karim now hajsafi. Ghoddos and Ali karimi need to come on.

If we play with an actual midfield in 2nd half we can score 2 more goals

Gholi : MOTM. He is running everything from CAM/RW role. He needs to drop deeper more often bc whenevr he does he gets offense going. Smart assist for sardar, great technique all around, could have had another assist.

Taremi : A bit quiet but intelligent movement. Sardar didnt read his passes a few times, nearly got his trademark PK. We need to involve him more.

Azmoun : missed two good chances but kept working and had confidence to take his third. He would have scored from brilliant sadegh cross if not for last ditch tackle. I like how he is adding outside box shooting to his game even if they are not always strong shots, he hits them on frame typically. we can use his speed better if we had a midfield.
