The amount of love Hajsafi is receiving in this forum reminds me of another great TM player known as "Ostad"!

Here is a highlight of Ostad's greatest moves (don't miss the comments )

He owns the record for the fastest TM goal ever!!!....

Own goal against Japan during 1998 WCQ. Thank the lord the Japanese player was offside and the goal didn't count.

Ostad Asadi is a true legend!

90% of their team are legionnaires that play in european leagues and they are 30 spots higher than Uzbekistan in FIFA ranking.

Yea they aren't Brazil, but I dont think you are giving Mali the credit they deserve.

lol I think you mistook mali for sierra leone. They have a better midfield than we have had in 20 years.

Mali are beating ghana 3-0. Ghana side led by arsenal's new 50 mil EU signing and atletico madrid Star Thomas Partey.

Mali did not even start their best wide player (djenepo of southampton) and most in form midfielder( samessekou of hoffenheim) who will probably start against us.

Seriously people do not say shit like we if we dont beat them 5-0 its a waste of time. You sound like the same idiots that shit on TM and say spain, portugal, argentina should beat us by 7 before every WC.

HA! I stand by waiting Hajsafi to get playing time vs Mali.

Not as a midfielder, but to see if he has a future with TM at LB. There is no one behind Milad at the moment.

As for a CM/CDM, we clearly need to explore other options!

Please don't be surprised, shocked or disappointed if TM loses to Mali. As IAWT said, they are stacked on paper, and much better than us. This is a friendly, after all, so the result doesn't matter, as much as Skocic taking some key learnings away from the match.

By the way, I don't know if TM got lucky, but this is a heck of a good friendly.

Holy smokes, this Mali team is good. Ajab shaansi avordim baa Mali bazi darim. I'm saying in Farsi that we are lucky we have a friendly with Mali.

It seems to me, everytime national teams who are badbakht in terms of politics like us are doing well, we are lucky because we're all in the same bubble. So friendly matches are more possible with them. Not saying Mali is badbakht, just that they're not very popular politically or sponsored athletically as are Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and etc.

                        So this is great news!

Now on to how I think Skocic will/should arrange his team on Tuesday:

I'm not sure why Hosseini didn't start yesterday but I'm assuming it's due to injury(?). Someone fill me in please. Having Shoja in place of Pouraliganji I'm alright with for now, and I would like to see again on Tuesday. Maybe because it was his return to Team Melli is why he was a bit rough. So now it's time to see how he does vs Mali. Shoja is a veteran CB who has grown in the last 6 years without Team Melli. His experience in the ACL, his fearless and confident personality is a big plus. But he's got to be careful and I feel he needs to start again to see how he does. In terms of our backline, these are the 4 I want to see vs Mali:

                        Milad Shoja Hosseini Moharrami

Moharrami was absolutely fantastic vs Uzbekistan. He made 2 mistakes that I noticed but he did great overall. I was impressed at how confident and composed he was. He covered the back right side very well. I was impressed with his technique and passing abilities (knowing when to pass, who to pass to in certain situations). I can tell how playing in Dynamo has helped him progess at a footballer. So I want to see Moharrami start.

I want to also see Azmoun, Taremi and Gholizadeh start again. I feel Ehsan needs to see the bench for this match because he was a bit sloppy last match. No attack on Hajsafi, he's had many great matches in the past both friendly and non-friendly. But I think we need to keep the ones who did well and change the ones who didn't do so well. That way we can have a better idea as to who the starting 11 should be in the WCQ'ers.

No knock on Niazmand as a GK. I still think he's good but I think we should let Rashid Mazaheri start vs Mali. Mazaheri is another veteran Iran goalkeeper with many many years of experience. He's a goalkeeper I have seen challenged in so many different scenarios and he was confident and fearless in all of these situations. Mazaheri is great with defending one on ones, during set-pieces, free-kicks, coming out against strikers during crosses. One of the better divers in Iran too. In fact I think he's the 2nd best diver after Beiranvand.

What a great game by Mali against Ghana. Their highlights were amazing. Our defense and midfield have their work cut out for them. Let's go TM!

To be honest I'm not happy about these friendlies as they are not planned professionally. We are playing against 2 arab teams and 2 south (east) asian countries. We should prepare for those matches with teams who have similar style of playing. teams like qatar, uae ,kuwait etc.. and teams like indonesia , vietnam or thailand.

Playing against mali would only be suitable as preparation only if we are playing in world cup against an african team like nigeria.

Im not saying these friendlies won't help us but I just don't think they are suitable for our preparation .

If that was the case, we'd play only Asian teams for 3 years, and then just have friendlies against other countries if/when we make the WC. How boring.
