Nourollahi is good at this role. He has a good engine and ability to add himself to the attack. He is not a good CDM and does not even play that role for Perspolis, sarlak does.
His defensive awareness, 1v1 defensive skills, overall positional play, and ball distribution skills are not strong enough to be the sole CDM and it just does not match his skillset which is being a rangy box 2 box midfielder.
There is nobody with Saeid's defensive quality or passing range in the squad. Trying to push nourollahi into this role is not doing the team or him any favors.

The funniest part about Nourollahi's assist is that it came from Hajsafi messing up the throw in , literally Hajsafi's best contribution the whole game was having butter fingers and throwing the ball too far and making the Bahraini defender panic with possession. Haysafi is seriously becoming the next Shojaei; there must always be this one player, who is technically the 12th player for the opposition when playing for TM.

The funniest part about Nourollahi's assist is that it came from Hajsafi messing up the throw in , literally Hajsafi's best contribution the whole game was having butter fingers and throwing the ball too far and making the Bahraini defender panic with possession. The fact the guy is captain makes the situation 10x worse. IDK if you guys noticed but after:
- kicking ball out play 8 separate times (just unforced losses of possession, total wastes straight out of play or to bahraini player)
- he nearly assisted bahrain goal with a ridculous first touch on top of box (just like his terrible touch that led to bahrain PK last time we played them)
- He took a free kick and managed to smash it into the only guy in the walls dick
- Countless crap corners
- Not providing milad ANY COVER defensively...One of the reasons the poor guy looked so bad (besides his pathetic first touch) was because hajsafi was not doing a THING defensively. Pressing when he should have dropped off and plugged the middle/left, standing when he should have been pressing, etc, etc

AFTER ALL OF THIS not 1 TM player had the authority to tell him off or ask him to shape the fuck up, like they reasonably would say to any other player committing these crimes. The guy has zero business in TM and his forced inclusion is clearly an order from above. Yasin Salmani of sepahan today is 10x the player Hajsafi is.

Unfortunely, Iranians tend to practice some sort of a Cult of personality. We constantly have this issue where players who have no business in TM manage to stay far to long with the Team based on their age/resume/authority etc. CQ was the first to break this system largely and solely focus on performance. (only case where CQ was not so consequent with his approach was his love with Masoud whom he should drop right after WC 2014 or even earlier).

But the worst part is, that these players who underperform and became to old, are just not willing to leave the Team. Very bad habit.

Unfortunately it seems unlikely that he will play the next 2 games. We had been told he was recovering well but it's too risky for him to play now.

We have some CM depth issues for Iraq game. we have nourollahi, ghoddos, ezatolahi, and sarlak? thats it? I can see at least one of those guys being used against cambodia as well. we have to be careful and conserve out midfield energy and hope for no injuries. Ali karimi also not invited due to injury, and we dont have omid ebrahimi. Omid would have been nice for some depth as a backup at least

Calling up two players who never play for TM over a warrior player like Ebrahimi that everyone respects.

If we somehow don't get by Iraq and don't qualify, that question needs to be pressed on Skokic.

TM is definitely beating Iraq, but agreed that at this point given how far down the midfield barrel we've gone that it would've made sense to invite someone at least familiar with other TM players.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of him, I think even Roozbeh Cheshmi would've been more helpful than those two.
