The last time a Team wanted badly revenge against TM was Korea and they end up in 3 games loosing streak. Amazing how every Team in Asia has some hostile feeling toward Iran ( with the exception of Japan maybe) the main list includes KSA, Iraq, Bahrain, Korea and seemingly Australia.

I think it's actually a really good thing. Australia recognizes our talents and wants us in their group to get revenge from 1998. Wanting revenge means they respect our capabilities.

Well Iran has been either number one or two team in Asia, of course every team in Asia wants to beat them, we would love to play and try to beat teams like, France, Germany, Brazil, etc

Dame TM Chef garm during these past few weeks. Here is celebratory meal upon return to tehran. Looks awesome, all players and staff very happy. Ezatolahi looked like he wanted to take the guy home with him.

Aussie squad is not as strong as 5 or 10 years a go, and not even close to 1998. There are plenty local league players and few from 2d divisions European leagues or 2nd rated leagues.

Agree completely , it is one of the worst Aussie teams I have seen in a a while and they have no big player who I think we should be worried about. They went downhill when Cahill left.

The special FIFA draw for Asia only is out and ranking for all teams stayed the same (Iran lagging Japan by only 7 points 1522 to 1529). So Iran and Japan as expected will be in pot (seed) 1. Here are the pots:

Pot 1: Japan, Iran
Pot 2: Australia, South Korea
Pot 3: KSA, UAE
Pot 4: Iraq, China
Pot 5: Oman, Syria
Pot 6: Vietnam, Lebanon

The first and second ball drawn from each pot will be placed in Groups A and B respectively. The draw will begin with Pot 6, where the first ball drawn will be placed in position A6. The next ball drawn will be placed in position B6, until the sequence is completed all the way through to Pot 1. So they actually start with pot 6 first and we won't know until near the end which group Iran will get.

According to both FIFA and AFC reports below, games in the third round are scheduled to be played on the following match days: 2 September 2021, 7 September 2021, 7 October 2021, 12 October 2021, 11 November 2021, 16 November 2021, 27 January 2022, 1 February 2022, 24 March 2022 and 29 March 2022.

Great that TM won’t start off against one of the big dogs. Playing one of the lower ranked teams is the ideal way to start off the campaign

Hope we get CQ back or world class coach...are defensive was horrible...this coach has a talented group of players so nothing crazy he pulled off...now playing Australia or South Korea..now thats a challenge

Our defense was better than its always been as we allowed only one chance to Iraq and one to Bahrain while we had numerous chances on their goal. We only allowed one goal which was a freak accident, Let us not forget the last time we saw CQ his team was routed 3-0 in our worst defeat to Japan in our history. Not to mention it was the most undisciplined and error prone performance. Why would we fire someone after 8 years then hire him again? That is like eating kookoo for 8 years then throwing up then eating our own throw up. No thanks.
