European Club Association teams (Porto and Zenit are members) have agreed a collective position in refusing to release players for international duty if it means they will have to quarantine when they return.

How can this even be legal? like wtf.
And would they be ok with it if all matches were played in a closed-off place, like if they could manage that in Qatar or UAE? In that case, I'll vote for that, we need all our players and power!

My guessing is that it more of a threat (as you say what is the legality to it), from what I remember before if a club refused to send a player for duty then they had to sit out some games or something like that. I think the outcome is that these players get given some sort of special exemption that they don’t have to quarantine upon arrival as long as testing is done.

im all for a central Neutral location for every match in the group.... its obvious that COVID in some form or another is here to stay for at least another year or so and most teams in groups gonna be struggling with it in one form or another.. picking this place for this game and that place for another game and trying to keep it in spirits of fair play is near impossible ..!!

i think we fair well with such a central location set up anyhow (say Gutter) away from Azadi distractions, good training grounds, hotels and camp sites and easy enough and somewhat affordable logistics planning for our goozoo federation to handle too..!
