I had this discussion with other member (last year) and after calculating the chances are really really low when you look at other groups. The four best runners-up across all groups will advance to the next round. Looking at other groups the probability is low.

So its a must win ! We have to beat both of them. No Ifs no Buts

Assuming bahrain take 6 pts from remaining 3 (beat HK and Cambodia) and lose to us, they would have 15 pts.
So basically as long as we beat bahrain a draw with iraq will be enough to secure passage for the next round as part of the group of 4 best runners up (potentially 5 if Qatar the host win their group). Consider we have a very high GD too.

      Dear President Shahaboddin Aziz Khadem,

Please inform FIFA and President Gianni Infantino on the blatant and unprofessional actions made by the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) against Iran's national football team, regarding Iran's World Cup Qualifying matches set for June 2021.

The excuses brought forward by the AFC meant as safety concerns, are strictly political and evidently in favor of the BFA (Bahrain Football Association). 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (AFC): Group C matches are not scheduled at a neutral location but instead taking place under the uncomfortable summer climates of Bahrain.

There is also a change of date for the qualifying match between Iran vs. Bahrain, decided by the AFC. The reason for such a change must be explained with reason and its claim must be supported with evidence. Otherwise, changes should not be made to dates for crucial World Cup Qualifying matches.

Kuwait and Jordan drawing in their game will help us a lot, also group G is critical. UAE has home field advantage but so far those teams have been evenly matched, hoping they can just beat each other up and Vietnam takes 1st place without a close 2nd. Uzbekistan only has 3 games left as well and could slip up in Saudi Arabia

the 2nd place teams pretty much 'guaranteed' to qualify are

        1) china. lots of home games left against easy opponents
        2) oman, already have a lot of points and need probably 1 win and a tie, easy opponents
        3) one of the group C teams. Bahrain has cambodia and hong kong at home, should be 6 points for them (giving them at least 15), and all they need is a draw against us so that will be an ugly game.

Other than that it is pretty wide open, we are in an awful situation with no margin for error anymore. 3 wins and 1 draw is what we need to qualify to the next round. 3 wins and a loss if we are lucky. 14 points will not be enough.

I was thinking about this the other day, every time we were put up with psychological warfare by the opponents, we always came out stronger, more motivated and victorious. I think the bad treatment by AFC and as a result an ''against all odds mentality'' will work in our advantage. Queiroz used this mindset too.

^yes, but CQ understood the importance of psychological training. We don’t have CQ this time around.

BTW, Hong Kong is not going to be a walk in the park. They already got a point from Bahrain and it would not surprise me if they help us again with Bahrain or Iraq. Small chance but a chance...

Quieroz era tips for this situation:

                1) Every game is a final... lets focus on the first game. Then once the first is over...the second...etc.

                2) No Arab BS. I know some of you are super diplomatic about the way our lovely neighbors treat us in football and in general but we should be critical of them every second from now until the games are over...from the accomodations, to the time of day they put the game(day vs night), to "COVID" fears so there are zero/less fans in stadium. The more noise the better.

                3) in-game psychological training. Maybe as a team, we will never become disciplined we still have to try our best. Any BS from them about diving, pushing on corners etc we CANNOT crowd the ref. We have to assume the ref is on their side. Just play our game and know we have SUPERIOR TALENT to get a win

In the first game against us they almost scored and tied the game.

Here are a few announcements from IFF in addition to the two new coaches:

1- TM will have a camp in Kish Island prior to going to Bahrain from May 25 to May 31st. This is assuming that IFF will not be able to convince FIFA to intervene and change it (that is highly unlikely). This means they are preparing for having the matches in Bahrain that is a good thing. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. http://ffiri.ir/fa/news/7596/%D8%AA%...B2%D9%86%D8%AF

2- Here is a long article along with all the letters to AFC on what exactly took place. At the end it says that they will use international legal channels to pursue their claims. http://ffiri.ir/fa/news/7599/%D8%AA%...82%D8%A7%D8%AA

3- Here are the photos of meeting between Skocic, Vahid and the other assistant with Azizi Khadem (new IFF president) and others. What do you think about the body language of each side? http://ffiri.ir/fa/news/7600/%DA%AF%...A8%D8%A7%D9%84

I still think they need to get a team of sport psychologist, yoga and meditation teachers and a martial art coach as CQ did.

                    Go TM!

Not a good move to announce we are having a camp in kish to prepare our games in Bahrain. It shows we know the AFC won't be reversed

Believe me, it won't be reversed. The only thing we can do right now is to make the biggest stink about the situation, so that they think twice next time before doing something like this. Also, we got to make sure that no fans are allowed in the stadiums. Has AFC mentioned anything about fans for this round?

Even if we are pessimistic, we shouldn't show them our resignation, and certainly not that early

Next time AFC will decide Iran has to play with only 9 players and without GK. will we have iff saying "oh that's unfair but let's prepare us with some friendlies where we can play with 9 players and without gk?

Training in Kish is not being pessimistic or resigning. Training schedules/facilities need to be arranged; It's a training facility we've used previously. We should still pursue all legal means to counter the choice of Bahrain, though I admit it's a long shot.

The even sadder part is look at the TM staff
From over 8 top members of staff with CQ to just 3 inc a GK coach with skokic
So sad to see how far we have fallen
