IMO Iranian TM defense is better than what many here believe! Possibly due to the wrestling tradition. I'm not too worried about it. No matter how many of our best established players are missing, whoever will finally be on the field will always step up. Iran never gets trashed.

biggest issue with our football is and been Smart Movement W/O the ball thus our Passing Fluidity and general Composure/vision and decision making, primarily so in the middle of the ball park ..!

Regarding the midfield: One idea would be to create a council of the best former midfielders Iran has produced (e.g. Bagheri, Navidkia, Nekounam).
Some of the things this council would then do:
- develop methods to analyze Iranian players from all age groups for high level mid-field potential (this would include not just people who currently play as midfielders, but all positions)
- develop methods on how to nurture and develop players that have been deemed as "high potential"
- monitor all active players and make recommendations to the TM coaching teams (all age groups) on who to invite for try-outs
- do an analysis and ranking of all countries for producing great midfielders consistently (e.g. Italy, Spain, Germany). Focus on getting coaches from those countries, hiring midfielders into PGL teams and promoting Iranian midfield talents to go to these countries (see below)
- get involved with scouting for Iranian teams to hire great foreign midfielders to improve the PGL and provide learning opportunities. Since midfielders can play to a higher age than other positions, it should be possible to get some high quality older EURO midfielders for relatively little money (i.e. focus not on expensive (former) superstars, but solid, above average players). Focus more on hiring foreign midfielders, rather than strikers, defender, or goal keepers (all of which Iran has plenty of already at home).
- get involved with promoting young highly promising Iranian midfielders to European teams as early as possible in their development

What are the attributes that make a great midfielder:
- great vision with a birds eye view of the whole field at all times
- good ball control
- excellent ball distribution skills
- a deep knowledge of the capabilities of all the players on the field (of both teams!)
- fast decision making while at the same time being calm and being able to speed up, or slow things down as needed
What else? Please add on your thoughts.
Also, let's get a discussion started here on promising midfielders in Iran. Could someone maybe start a thread on that? Let's make this a team effort!

IFF Board of Directors met in Mashahd today and made decisions about the budget for next year and upcoming matches vs Korea and Lebanon. Not a word about WC preparation. I am really concerned. Skocic was supposed to come back last Sunday. He needs to demand action.
Go TM!

Seems Shoja Khalilzadeh is the latest injury and his status for South Korea is unclear.
Honestly, may be a blessing in disguise. We need to start Morteza (if he is ready) and Majid Hosseini and call up the likes of Amir Janmaleki and Saman Fallah."This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

I really think we'll see Omid and maybe Hosseini start (if healthy).
