With all the signings Portimonense are making in the January transfer window they should be expected to stay up comfortably for the remainder of the season. Most of their signings should arrive this week and next week (in addition to the ones that were already made). Honda, Moreira, Nakamura, Ewerton, Barcos, and Salmani are quality signings for a team like Portimonense.

The serious injuries of Lucas Fernandes and Pedro Sá, both undergoing surgery, and the chronic knee injury of Vaz Tê, ended up bringing added difficulties to Paulo Sérgio.
In addition to all these setbacks, Gonda and Safawi have already abandoned Portimonense.
Japanese international goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda will return to his country to represent Shimizu S-Pulse, on loan from Portimonense. The loan is valid until December 2021, with the Shimizu S-Pulse paying one million euros. The Japanese club will be able to guarantee the player permanently, at the end of that period, by paying an additional two million euros.
Safawi, an Asian golden-boy and a star in Malaysia, returned to his country, to his former club, champion Johor, who had loaned him to the alvinegros. Rasid cited personal reasons for returning to Malaysia, a request that was readily accepted by Portimonense officials.
Thus, even taking into account the last place he occupies in the table, Portimonense despairs of reinforcements, which are added value and increase the quality of a clearly deficient squad. Paulo Sérgio is looking for players who can join the team and enable Portimonense to fight for their place in the biggest league of Portuguese football.
Iranian Jafar Salmani, 23, who plays both defense and winger on the left, arrived in Portimão in early December. After signing a contract until 2023, he ended up failing to enroll in the October market due to bureaucratic reasons, he was enrolled now, being the 1st reinforcement of the January transfer market. Salmani is well known to coach Paulo Sérgio, who coached him during his stint with the Iranian Sanat Naft team.
Kosuke Nakamura, 25 years old, goalkeeper of Kashiwa Reysol, is international, having represented the Japanese team on six occasions, in addition to other internationalizations in the youth team. In the last games, Kosuke has been an alternate. It is curious that Nakamura is one of Gonda's rivals for the Japanese team's goal.
The arrival of Nakamura to Gonda's place seems absurd, especially when Samuel has been the owner and lord of the goal and there are still Ricardo Ferreira and Aflalo, who have been in such a good level in the under-23s.
Salmani seems to us to be a good bet for the future and the ideal substitute for Safawi. Ewerton is one of ours and will balance a midfielder orphaned by injured Pedro Sá. Keisuke Honda is the creative hired to make up for Lucas Fernandes' absence until the end of the season. The Japanese is an ace, however it is a shame that he comes injured (muscle injury and does not play until February).
The hiring of Boats, the “pirate”, we don't know if it will be a laugh or a horror movie. 36 years old, in the last year and a half he has only one presence in the Bangladesh championship, at the service of the Bashundhara Kings (1 game and 4 goals).
In addition to these 5 new players, they will be able to reach Portimonense, in the coming days, more reinforcements. It's all for the alvinegros in the fight for maintenance.
