He was buried today. Such a sad day for Iranian football. You're with God now Mehrdad. We will all miss you.

Very sad news. It’s hard to believe. Mehrdad Minavand was a great player from Iran and Asia. He represented our country very well wherever he played. He worked hard for our football. Outside of football he seemed so happy when he was still with us. You could just tell he had a great personality and was just a genuine human being. He reminded me of that cool and hip Iranian uncle you’d hang out with. The one who’s in touch with what young people are into, always joking and is joyful. That’s what I saw from Minavand outside of the field.
