We can hope its "rust" or whatever but we should not be afraid to just say it looked like a team with little plan, motivation, or ideas.

1- However, This (with a couple of more tests) was good enough to overcome the likes of Iraq and Bahrain

2- My guess is aside from rusty attitude and mood, this was also a friendly and the lads took it as a friendly too. I'm sure had it been an official game we'd see far more intensity and seriousness from the lads.

I still say lets not get so worked up.
    yet.

This was definitely a team and tactics in-Progress. I know most of them have played together but it’s a new coach and such huge gap from the last time they got together. Besides not enough friendlies. Indeed, without more friendlies we will be in trouble against both B & I. Syria is slow compared those two.

Painful game to watch but Positives, Beiro welcome back but please cut out these central passes. I also liked NoorAfkan, the boy showed confidence and accuracy well most of the time. Ansarifard direct and focused.

If i didn't know you i would've said that you just joined this site and started following team melli last month. What did you expect to see ? Skocic/Vahid Hashemian doing magic after 1 friendly game and Team melli playing tiki taka ? CQ (love him to death) lost against Lebenon and drew against Qatar in an official match!

        Few things to consider:

This team needs more time to organize
        We are playing new system
We need all of our players back. ARJ, Ghoddos , Moharami, PAG
Ali karimi was injured didn't play
Taremi and Sardar were clumbsy which hopefully this won't happen for official matches.

Im not impressed by our performance but thats totally normal, when considering our situation. Give him some time, support teamm melli and his decisions lets see what happens.

I think players like JB and Ghoddos will be very useful against bahrain, they both have strong technical fundamentals and can create goals out of nothing. we also need Ezza back, our only CM with good ball control.

I think there is a lot of value in such calm - IF we were at the beginning of a campaign. My suspicion (and own personal stress as well) is that Wilmots put us in a position where I'm not sure we have the time. If he can get us through JUNE then totally agree - improvement can happen adn we can look back on this period similarly.

I wasn't happy with the performance today either but acting like skocic doesnt have a plan is ridiculous.

Watch our game against Bosnia and the team was very organized in pressing and shape.

I think todays game looking so disjointed is due to a few reasons:

              -Rust
-Hajsafi not getting injured like he did against Bosnia allowing so we wouldn't have to play the game with 10 men.

Also, skocic likely learning that a midfield with amiri hajsafi and nourollahi is horrible because NONE OF THEM CAN HOLD THE BALL.

Amiri is okay if we have someone like ebrahimi and ezatollahi on the pitch. then he is free to press and cause danger a little more freely.

Nourollahi is not even 50% as good as ebrahimi.

              Positives/takeaways from todays match:

Center Backs are pretty good, another mature and confidence inspiring game from Shoja, we have good depth here now. 3 of our 4 CBs are proven goal scorers. Shoja, PAG, Kaanani, this will help us a lot.

GK: Beiro was confident and created chances for our team and came up with some big saves.

MF: Ebrahimi immediately changed the game when he came on, confident, cool on the ball, crisp passes, and most importantly made himself open to relieve pressure.

Forward line: Taremi was positioning himself very well and was reading the game well, but couldnt finish today. with a bit of luck he could have easily scored 2 or 3.

Karim: I'm not his biggest fan but he showed he has some confidence and enough quality to keep himself in the squad.

              My thoughts:

2 of these players need to be in our midfield at all times or else we have ZERO chance at holding the ball and controlling the match

              Ezatollahi
              Ebrahimi
              Ghoddos

Hajsafi needs to be benched ASAP

Were you the team melli bus driver??

LMFAO You just can't make this up

Both Haj Safi and Skocic were left behind the bus so they had to go to hotel without the team melli bus on their own

I missed the game today due to being at work so thank you all for the updates. From what I can see seems like the usual friendly game, also more of our players are coming towards the end of a very tough season in Europe and so wouldn’t be surprised if they were not at full throttle. I expect to see a different mentality when we play the remaining qualifiers. Will also help with the fact there are 5 subs for those games and having a stronger bench will be a great weapon.

Here is Skocic's post match interview. He is not happy with the performance. It sounds like his plans were not executed well. When they asked him about the chances of making it out of this WC 2022 AFC qualifying stage, he said it is not a question of chances and "we must make it to the next stage". I like his confident and no-none-sense attitude. http://ffiri.ir/fa/news/7675/%D8%A7%...B1%DB%8C%D9%85

Very frustrating to see so many garbage players when we had much better options. I reckon covid limitations and injuries don't help but still

I don't care about Germany or Spain either. The point was that despite these elite teams (with seemingly unlimited friendlies, funding, coaching, sponsorship, etc) barely squeaking by in their WCQ matches against underdogs, the sky was not falling for them and their fans. I don't think we can speak about sustainability in our football (for a number of reasons). There is nothing sustainable about a federation that can't put together more than 1 friendly per year, can't attract decent coaches, can't pay coaches and staff through normal means, can't/won't have decent training facilities and camps, etc. What we have is what we have. And my point is that *overall*, with all these obstacles, TM's performance today was acceptable. Do I wish we had more friendly opportunities with the likes of Japan/SK/Australia/Euro teams/etc, so that we can have better ideas/plans/motivation about our formations and lineups? Hell yes. Do I wish we had an elite coach that is world-renowned? Of course. But alas, we're stuck with Syria, and IFF, and AFC. So we either take this as a positive and move on and build on it, or just throw our hands up and go home now.

What I was watching today looked like a TM just having a laugh. Some of our players looked like foosball table men screwed to a bar waiting for the ball to fall on to their feet. Man I really hope this was a TM just playing in 1st gear for 90 minutes. The reality might be that this is the best they could do in which case I would already wash my hands off.

it was garbage in my opinion we had parts of the game with two left footers on the right flank. Why are we playing 3 at the back for the whole game against such weak opposition. Surely Majid could have had some minutes? That CM 3 should never be seen again has to be Saman Omid and Saeid. Skokic 3/10

Skocic quote regarding players not invited

"The reason is very simple; I have standards for selecting players. I can say for sure that I know the players better than they do. I choose the players who I think are the best.

this was specifically asked about ghafouri, rezaeian, and ezatolahi.
