this. I dont buy the "tactics in process" argument. That would imply we are trying out a new style and just making a few too many mistakes or not doing a couple things right, wrong positioning, etc.

Thats not what happened today. The tactic was kick the ball to azmoun and taremi as quick as possible. It looked bad bc it is a stupid tactic and not sustainable if we want to do anything with our national team of note (like we had been).

And this looked bad against SYRIA. We all know how it will look vs any credible opposition.

If by his 3rd camp this is the best skocic came up with for tactic, I think we should be concerned.

With CQ you were seeing an evolution of the team from year to year, camp to camp. Established a strong defensive base, slowly started adding more technical players (moharrami, ghoddos, gholizadeh), more emphasis on building from back (see venezuela, uzbek games pre AC) and then doing short quick combos in and around box using taremi and azmoun. Even when it didnt come off you could see the idea and fundamentals in place. I saw the idea skocic had vs bosnia (high press, use milad and moharrami's speed to provide width, get gholi to combine with front 2) but today i saw the idea too, and it was not pleasant.

They wanted to change from kish to UAE but sadly it was refused.
TBH i don’t know if a friendly is such a good idea when we are playing 4 games in 12 days?
We need the boys fresh for these 4 games, where we will have to field our strongest team in 3 of them.
The games are being played after a long season and the risk of injuries are higher. Last thing we want is an injury to one of our key players before these games...

According to Skocic we might not even go to kish if they don't find a suitable pitch for TM training. Its seem that we are lacking proper training ground in Kish. Thats why they trying to do the camp in UAE.

A Friendly behind doors , even with IPL team is good enough . Our game against Hong Kong can also be considered as a friendly, although they know how to park the bus and can cause trouble for us.

Nothing is scheduled, and probably not the best idea since we have 4 matches in 12 days. I'd rather everyone be fit and healthy than risk injury and exhaustion.

form can be overrated, we were coming off 5-0 win over syria, 2-0 over hong kong, and 14-0 over cambodia and still lost to bahrain. its about the players just mentally being there. in form players can have bad days and out of form players can have good ones. Play the best players and team and hope for the best

              Positives:
              - Most organized pressing from our forwards I've seen since the Vietnam match in the asian cup. Especially in the first half we made it hard for Syria to do any build up.
              - Shoja is more level-headed than I expected him to be?
              - Karim's goal was a great effort
              - Salmani was solid as the starting RB
              - Did well creating chances on the counter
              - Beiro seemed confident

              Negatives
              - The midfield: Both the player selection and the performance of the selected players. Nourollahi, Amiri and Hajsafi should be bench players for TM. Really worrying that Skocic would pick these guys.
              - Offensive tactics in possession: Instead of building up the play against an inferior team who wasn't pressing much, Skocic opted out for deploying a counter-attacking offensive game plan.
              - Second half as a whole was sloppy
              - Sardar and Mehdi in possession looked like players who had their first match together. out of sync.
              - Finishing
              - Too easy for Syria to attack on the wings
              - Letting Hajsafi take the free-kick in the second half
              - Couldn't tell the tactical difference between the team today and Perspolis in 2017.

Those matches will be played in June, thats 2 montsh away... Why cant we have more friendlies when we are in a desperate situation now... We need 4 wins or something... Its abit weird that we have only one friendly before such a important event....

If we could have friendlies against oman Palestine or such, we should at least play some friendlies against some IPL teams

There's no more room for international fixtures in the FIFA calendar before our 4 games. Probably for the best too, all we have to rely on is the surprise factor at just how crap we are so we may as well protect that.

Choosing Ehsan over Omid is a major problem as today demonstrated.

My only other worry is this mug benching PAG in preference for the Persepolis twins at the back who each have approximately 64 mistakes in them. It would be a ridiculous decision but I have full faith Dragan is capable of such idiocy.
I don't know why people can't criticize without using demeaning words. I read two posts in this thread, by you, both of which were annoying me because of insults and belittling words. I didn't do this to preach but to let you know of the reaction it has caused. I wish you well.

I'm afraid I'm highly emotional as this is a topic very close to my heart. I am saddened to hear innocent bystanders have been caught up in the cross-fire but I regard it as unavoidable casualties of the war. My aim is merely to liberate TM and its people from this terrorist and he is a terrorist because I regard his incompetence to be violence against us.

Prepare for the likes of Hajsafi, Nourollahi and Amiri to play in June. I’m hoping he will replace them with Ezatolahi, Ghoddos and Jahanbakhsh. Otherwise we will likely see the same garbage performance as today and the previous qualifiers vs Bahrain and Iraq.
No amount of friendlies will change that lol.

Some of you think that we are overreacting when Iran won 3-0.

This is not about a panic. It’s about preventing a disaster.

If Ezatolahi doesn’t get called up I won’t support this coach. At that point, Skocic thinks he has galacticos in Hajsafi and Nourollahi.

Ezatolahi played recently in the latest leauge game, away against a big team; Midtjylland. His team lost 5-0.
They got a red card in the first half and even made five subs.

Ezatolahi played the whole game without being subbed. He played as a CAM.

For those demanding friendlies, I understand your reasoning but our legionnaires wont be able to get away for anymore international games until the qualifiers themselves.

We could have played 2-3 games during this FIFA days but we managed only get Syria, a team we already played against. Many other NTs have played 2-3 games these last week, why was this not possible for Iran? A TM not in shape, new coach and in desperate need to win all remaining matches... and we managed only one friendly..
