Big positives for me were Gholizadeh + Moharrami down right hand side, Saeid and ARJ back in xi.

Taremi had probably his worst game ever in TM jersey, something was up with him. Azmoun didnt play as poorly but looked very cautious overall to not get a yellow card which kid of affected his overall game. Still big task for skocic remains how we will unlock more from these 2 stars. We currently use around 30% of their overall potential on a GOOD day.

Too often I saw very obvious balls trying to force a play down the middle which were easily picked off. Thought milad had the right ideas with some balls into space behind the defense which started dangerous situations regularly. I hope coaching staff really figures out a few go to movements/sequences for the guys to run and not just aimless passes to a CF with 4 guys on his back. This will be crucial as Bahrain will also sit super deep.
Amiri was MOM for me. Only guy who was alert all game. His physical conditioning seems to be such that no weather brings him down. However, Mohammadi was excellent as well.

Taremi has been spending too much time on instagram asking people to vote for his UCL goal of the season. He needed to show a bit more urgency. Yeah his opponents are not Champions League level, but they're not just going to make space for him. Him and Taremi should be aware they're going to be double and triple marked every game.

Worst players for me were Nourollahi, Gholizadeh (in the 2nd half, 1st half he was great) and our CBs for that slip up. That was just dumb. The HKG forward placed the header beautifully but we gave space to them a few times and that's not acceptable against such teams.

Seyed Jalal and Montazeri and Sadeghi may have been slow turtles, but they didn't drop their man.

Let's hope we got some of the rust out of the machine.

Their goal wasn't their only attack either, we gave them a couple of really good chances which is very disappointing and shows we need to work on tightening up.

Taremi was notably bad but otherwise, no major problems with individuals. Don't want to get too excited but Moharrami is better than Cafu. Torabi and Karim showing they should be our go-to subs if we need goals. Torabi's directness especially is something others can't replicate.

This - considering the lack of friendlies and poor conditions - our midfield was solid today - which is important.
The team will be sharper against Bahrain - and while GD matters - winning all 4 outright should be the aim. 1 down.

Yeah I prefer to start amiri as the other CM next to saeid rather than play him at LB. He also played good there when he was shifted inside and scored.

With regards to our CFs knowing they are marked by 4 guys, I am sure they are aware of it...The question is our the midfielders aware of it? When they feed them hospital passes with 3 guys breathing down their neck and no space to turn or decent option to lay it off too?

            My take
            - OK game after not playing together for over a year.
            - Good performances from Gholizadeh, ARJ, Moharami, Amiri on the wings.
            - Nourollahi looks shaky starting in the middle. This is where Omid would've made sense.
            - Taremi and Azmoun looked off today. Hopefully it's just rust but they looked off.

Also people need to respect HK more, this wasn't Cambodia, they don't make a habit of losing by more than 2 goals.

Very lucky goal indeed. But I’m glad we grabbed 3 points.

Taremi has never been as good for TM as he has for club, he can be very shol against bad teams but very good against good teams. my guy needs to spend less time on instagram sharing stories.

regarding game i have a lot to say, but we cannot forget the referee missed 3-4 penalties. I hate when this happens, just cause we are expected to beat hong kong we cant be upset at bad ref?

There was definitely a tendency to try and play centrally, which was bizarre given how many players they were packing in there. But the final ball from wide areas was terrible too - seemed blustery but not sure that should be an excuse as they should be good enough to adjust their delivery. We got a lot more joy from the combinations with the switch to 4-3-3 as it allowed Torabi to drift into areas between their midfield and the full backs.

Exactly. This same HK took a point off Bahrain which ultimately may help us alot!

He could have called 2 penalties at least in our favor.

So I was just thinking with the exclusion of North Korea, it’s almost certain that Bahrain would need to win out too in order to advance. This is actually good. I can’t think they would be stupid enough to just play us for a draw.
