So far the results are going ok for us, even if Lebanon beat Sri Lanka they didnt really gain a significant advantage in goal difference. If they concede 2 to Sri Lanka, I'm sure Turkmenistan has enough firepower to get a goal(s).

We need all the first place teams in the other group to win outright and for the second place teams to drop points to the other teams. Ties are good enough.

I miss carlos so much. Miss not having to worry about a thousand different mathematical calculations and scenarios in order to determine if team meli qualifies. Miss not having to worry about our defence. I know its really unlikely but I wish he comes back one more time to lead team meli again.

You should not stall in the past. I remember there were a lot of people arguing against his defensive style and he wasn't always great. There were a few very good hard working players then. And that was the strength of our TM. In fact I would go as far as to say he could have gotten much better results if he had a more offensive strategy. We had sweepers like Neko and Andranik. So following Milad’s post. Here are most important games to follow if we are going the 2 Wins and 1 Draw scenario for Iran for the remaining games

China vs phillipines and Syria. Need a loss and draw from these two games, since China will get their GD very high against Maldives. Likelihood is 10%

Kuwait vs Jordan. Need a draw for this game, or a kuwait win, and we beat Bahrain by 1 more goal than kuwait beat Jordan

Need UAE to drop points vs Thailand and Vietnam

Oman to lose vs Qatar, and draw Afghanistan

Lebanon to lose vs Turkmenistan and South Korea

Just need one of these things to happen

A Thailand win vs UAE aint neccesarily goos for us. Because if they also beat Malaysia, they Will end up with 15 points - 4 points vs indonesia. That is 11 points which is better than our 10 points. So a Thailand win isnt good. But a draw is perfect

Jordan is playing Australia also. If they draw Kuwait and beat Australia they are through. If UAE draw Thailand and beat Vietnam they will finish with 16 points. They scored 4 against Malaysia, which might be enough to take them through.
So we need more than those two games you mention.

Uae has 3 games left. and they have 9 points (including a win against indonesia) - take away that they end up with

vs indonesia - 3 points (last team points doesn't count) so 0 points
vs vietnam - 3 points (i doubt it )

6 + 3 points = 9 points
So UAE will end up with 9 points

Yea vietnam drew against thailand and barely managed to beat malaysia in their home game. It seems to be something to do with their psychology and mentality. for some reason they have hard time beating east asian teams. They always had trouble beating malaysia. Its always a narrow win or draw. Vietnam is very unpredictable team if you ask me, everything is possible from them. I see vietnam beating UAE more than beating malaysia.

The aim is of course 12 points, but there is a chance we'll end up with 10 points.
In that case we'll need help from other teams, and i hope results go our way.

I'm one of those guys that just wants us to qualify for the next round, don't really care how we do it.
We can build the team and work on tactics in the next round. For now, lets just get out of the mess Wilmots put us in.

If we're tied with Iraq in the 80th minute, and only a draw is needed, it would be stupid to risk it all and go for the win. Just my 2 cents.

I can easily see Lebanon loosing to Turkmenistan and most def. to S.Korea. Also very likely is UAE drooping points against Vietnam and Thailand (specially against Vietnam, who are toping the group right now and are a considerable force). Kuwait and Jordan can easily be a draw.
Oman loosing to Qatar is also likely, but unfortunately i can't see Afghanistan taking a point from them. Hope i am wrong here.
