I just watched the highlights to remind myself of the last game vs Bahrain:

Quite simple, Iran had most of the chances, Bahrain really had a single chance besides the penalty shot.
KEY to winning: START Jahanbakhsh again. Even when he has an off game he makes a difference. The players that play in europe really are of different quality in my opinion. As long as the starting lineup makes sense we should be okay. No Hajsafi please!

I hate playing against Bahrain more than any team. I was watching videos of us playing Portugal and Spain and really it annoys me that we are not bothered playing against the likes of Ronaldo and not intimidated however we always worry when playing against these teams. They must be focused I hope the presence of karim bageri with his experience keeps the boys level. We need 2 wins and a draw and we are set. Let’s not complicate things.

The Qatar 2022 World Cup is the final major football tournament with real prestige, since the next one will include 48 teams which means the likes of China, Iraq and Uzbekistan.. overall much less competitive games. I really hope we make it!

Playing against Arab teams has always been a mental thing rather than quality of the team or players, especially Iraq seem to have our number in the recent years. We need to overcome the mental struggles, because the gap between us and Bahrain / Iraq on paper is significant. For example, our squad value is rated at €79.37 million, while Bahrain is rated at €2.73 million (Iraq is €10.58 million). So, our GK Beiranvand is alone worth entire Bahrain's team.

The reason is these cheat teams don't play football against us. They pull every fucking shit there is to win. They can't play fair and square football because they will be owned. We usually rape them into pieces when on either home or neutral turf. I never worry football wise against Bahrain, Saudis, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, etc. Bahrainis are dirty lowlife cheaters.

I don’t look at it this way. The federation absolutely failed us as people and the players. From the wilmots disaster to lack of support and structure, ie friendlies. I mean how can I blame the likes of Ezzie and JB, when they basically got snubbed the last go round.

We have to be realistic folks. It will be difficult to win against Bahrain and against Iraq. Our football level is not that much higher to always win against these team. And the current team is not that prepared. I remember the high expectation people had in 2002 with Iran's biggest stars (Daie, Bagheri, Kia, etc ) and we lost 3-1 to Bahrain in Bahrain. It is an unpleasant reality that we may not qualify to the next round.

Definitely they are hoping for a 0-0 tie.
that's my worry. They park the bus the whole game, and they get lucky with a single counter attack and score a goal, all while grassrolling the whole game.

Although it's khabar varzeshi, they got the line up right against Hong Kong and they have close contacts with the Persepolis players and Bagheri.
