Ghoddos: 8- guy was full of energy and created loads of good chances. Skocic needs to get his head out of his rear end and play this guy 60-70 mins minimum in crucial matches. We could have had the game be over in the first half if he was on the pitch hustling and distributing the ball the way he did. He literally dispossessed a bahraini player at our box dribbled the ball down the field through a few bahraini’s and put a great ball for Mehdi which was 50/50 chance of him scoring. He was everywhere and a total beast.

Torabi: 8 - incredible hustle and pressing the Bahraini’s simply could not handle him. He was breezing by them and out-muscling and out-hustling all of them. Level above the rest IMO and must start vs Iraq

Nourolahi: 7 - one of 2 players in our XI to show up in the first half. Lots of good ball distribution and little to no errors.

Amiri: 7 - pure hustle and heart simply unmatched in that Dept.

Taremi: 7 - missed too many chances but of course made up for his misses

Azmoun: 6.5 - asleep the first half but great second half

Kanaani: 6.5 - won almost all his 50/50 balls. I’m super critical of him usually but today he played a very solid game.


Worst:

Gholizadeh: -23 - might as well have wore a Bahrain jersey. He looked like a modern day shojaei out there losing the ball left and right and not penetrating the holes when he had the opportunity. Literally 0 energy of everyone walking he was walking most.

vahid amiri - 8/10 clever, absolutely solid almost no mistakes, work horse - hopefully not badly injured, we definitely need him against Iraq

gholizadeh- 6/10 some few good combinations with Saman

taremi- 8/10 - I always said that this guy football IQ can be deadly for every opponent, a genius - could have easily been 10/10 & man of the match if he didn't miss easily those chances - if it was for Porto he would have scored at least 2 of those missed chances

azmoun - 9/10 - man of the match, ice-cold in front of the goal

i think giving azmoun 6.5 was harsh, first half he was not poor but our midfield (thanks to hajsafi) was super poor and could not give him good balls, but second half when he was given good balls he delivered

He seemed to have sent them out with the plan to give the ball to Iran and then rely on their pace and speed on counter. Big Mistake. On reflection he may have decided to go for it. Whatever his tactics were after the first goal, Bahraini heads amazingly dropped - a team full of big mouth before had nothing to show or say. Even their manager was gub-smacked

Take nothing away from Team Meli, the second half performance was fantastic

Beiranvand - 6/10. Kicking was shit, not sure wtf thats about. But the rating iz for good exits and 1 massive save when we needed it.

Moharrami - 6/10. He is not ready. Its clear that the late return from 4month injury means that hes not playing at 100%, and will take the 60 mins he played for dinamo, the HK game, tonight, and honestly probably 3-4 more games before he regains the fantastic form he showed consistently a few months ago. But we have no choice except to play him, nemati is garbage. He also had a big improvement from first to second half. Offensively he was still very good, but defensively not as sharp as before.

Kanani - 5. Solid in defending aerials. Very hesistant in possession, and that tackle and yellow was the most retarded I have seen in tM for a long time. Shades of his Japan brain fart. No way in hell he starts instead of PAG vs Iraq.

Shoja - 6/10. More solid than Shoja. Just 1 dumb foul in the corner, but besides that good defensively. In possession I thought he was also hesistant. Should start vs iraq but next to PAG

Milad - 3/10. His first touch was something out of horror movie. He had a couple decent interceptions to start counters. Defensively a lot came from his side. I think its not all his fault, hajsafi playing in front of him provided zero coverage, but he needs to up his game a ton for iraq. I think we still have no better option but to start him, with correct personnel in front of him in midfield.

Hajsafi - 0/10. Nothing. He passed the ball out of play 8-10 times directly. His FKs, CKs were over hit or right into the wall, his defensive work was non existent, he gave huge chance to bahrainis with a random touch in the box right to their player after their failed set play. Man, he is just so so so poor. When he moved to LB our midfield could finally breathe and we won the game.

Nourollahi - 5/10. HE brings good energy but is terrible as ball distributor or defensive screen. Looked way better next to saeid when he was allowed to roam.

Amiri - 8/10. Held team together in train wreck of first half. Hope his injury is not major. Great play off the ball, great runs with the ball. He is a lock in the midfield but needs more technical players next to him to make up for his deficiencies in that regard, he will not dictate flow or make great passes.

Gholizadeh - 5.5/10. A very poor first half. His worst half for TM. Much better in 2nd half with good midfield behind him and unlucky not to grab a wonderful assist for saeid. He must start vs iraq, but needs to up his game.

Taremi - 9/10. Finishing could have been better in some scenarios, but overall play was excellent. When he played more exclusively from left in 2nd half everything worked a lot better, as I said pre game, this should be his position in TM.

Azmoun - MOTM 10/10. Killer, ice cold. Timing of his runs, explosiveness, finishing with both feet. Yeah, he is our best player, our leader, our talisman, and a top class center forward.

Subs :

Ghoddos - 9/10. He changed the game. His technical level is so much higher than anybody elses in the midfield. He is our only press resistant mid and the combos with taremi and azmoun completeley flipped game on its head. He must be in every tm starting xi from now on, dont care how it needs to be done.

Ezatolahi - 8/10. Would have been 9 too if he scored that header. The guy is by far our best CDM, its not very close. The way he turns in possession, his range of passing, his excellent positional play on defense, its not comparable to nourollahi, hajsafi, etc. He makes the players behind and in front of him better, the best sign of his impact in that position.

Torabi -7/10. good energy, nice assist.

Ghayedi,PAG, not long enough to rate. PAG must start vs Iraq instead of kanani.

Dragan - 5/10. He starts that suicidal midfield time and time again. He is insane bc he keep trying something that doesnt work. If bahrainis were a bit better they would have scored one in the first half at least. But for realizing the mistake and bringing in ghoddos his rating is not lower than 5. Then he was forced to put saeid in after vahid injury, another player that should be always fix. The guy is bailed out by our talent level, but he sure as hell wont take iran anywhere in a WC or even WCQ main round.

Azmoun, Ghoddos, Taremi and Nourollahi where also really good.

Ezatolahi should start the next games. Aghaei is our best left back, Mohamadi is shaky, same goes for Moharami. Esmaelifar, Hardani and Rezaeian should fight for the right back position. Everyone else did good considering the circumstances. Hajisafi should no longer be invited and should be replaced by Kamyabinia. Glad JB didn't play, he along with Hajsafi should no longer get an invitation as we have much better players than them in their respective positions.

All in all proud of our boys, great job and on to the next game!

He was still my worst rated player. Considering the average rating I gave out probably somewhere around 7.5-8, and that we won 3-0, Hajsafi being rated a 5.5 seems fair to me.

Nourallahi and Hajsafi are not good enough. The balance to that midfield was horrendous. None of them were able to close the passing lanes and the gaps between the lines were horrendous. Iraq would’ve been at least 2 up at ht against that midfield.

PAG also has to start - Kanani with the ball at his feet and looking to play out against Iraq is a seriously worrying prospect.

Ghoddos was immense. The saving grace was again the depth of our bench. Despite choosing an awful spine to that defence and midfield the subs bailed Skocic out. He can’t afford to make the same mistakes again.
