Good question. But that team melli is too shaky and will struggle against S.Korea, Australia and S. Arabia. Now would be enough time to hire a good coach. But yeah it would be unfair against Skocic, cause he did the job. But guys... hey come on! We never ever struggeld at that point. I know it was Wilmots fault, but that team melli was embarassing.

          Definately yes so far,

Wilmots, who was hired as a “top” coach showed how incompetent he is as a coach and left a team Melli on the verge of collapse.

Skocic became a TM coach in a moment of crisis, showed character by visiting all legionaries, managed to win all remaining matches.
The best thing was that we historically have played bad in Bahrain, but managed to beat both Iraq and Bahrain in a convincing manner (with many goal scoring chances). Not to compare with CQ, but we have struggled with Iraq and Bahrain during his era.

So far everything looks good and our team just needs a bit polishing in defence and finishing.

I am not worried at all,

          Go Team Melli 🇮🇷❤️

Yes, he stepped up and took responsibility when we were at our lowest point and did great given the conditions.

I haven't seen anything yet that puts him above Branko.

Branko also "got results". But anyone watching PP matches could tell you that the team played a style of football which belongs to early 00s. This might work against Asian competition when our players are some of if not the most talented In asia, but give us the same group we had in 2018 with Skocic in charge, and we are finish with 0 points and a -6 goal difference.

All that said, at this point, as much as I'd like to see Nekounam or Yahya in charge, we are not going to see a different coach for the next round, so might as well cross our fingers and hope this guy fails his way into a world Cup (probably via an intercontinental playoff spot).

Long story short, I feel like I just got the footballing equivalent of a handjob.

He just beat Bahrain in Bahrain, Iraq after 10 years, and took us through with little to no preparation. Trust in our coach

No. Branko was a spineless coach who insisted on playing a 10 versus 11 matchup using Ali Daei. Branko is an opportunist.

I appreciate the fact that Skocic led TM to 4 straight victories in official matches (7 out of 7 since he took the helms). This was a huge accomplishment under horrible conditions. Skocic kept himself and the team focused and delivered. We shall be grateful to him forever. Yet this poll is about the second round and the coach who leads the team in the second round is the one who should lead the team in WC if successful. I think with this level of talent our goal should be qualifying and getting out of group stage in Qatar 2022. I am not sure if he could deliver on that. At the same time with the current conditions of the country and IFF, we are going to have a very difficult time to attract a world class coach even if we could afford him. That's why I voted "Not Sure". I don't want to sell this team short and yet we can not afford another Wilmotsaster. I prefer a coach with WC experience and solid track record and I don't have an answer. While the new IFF leadership has done really well in the first three months after taking over, I am not sure if they are capable of attracting a great coach, pay him regularly and meet his demands.

                        Go TM!

CQ was great and wonderfull for Iran and we all have appreciated him as well as IFF and rest of Iran.
He also got paid for it hansomely.
but he could never beat Bahrain away and Iraq.
He also lost to Japan 3-0 in the AC.
He had his time and chances with Iran for 7 years.
enough is enough , we don't need to praise him any more.
we really need to appreciate the job Skocic has done for TM.

He did his job to help us beat Iraq and Bahrain. Other two matches were basically automatic wins. But we need a top level coach who will lead us to the World Cup. And hopefully coach us at the World Cup. This World Cup will be the only one in Azmoun and other players’ prime. Can’t waste it with an average at best coach bc he beat Bahrain and Iraq lol

well, this is jumhooriieh eslamiyeh Iran. How many top foreign coaches do you think will sign up to coach a team from a country that is sanctioned by the world, and will hope to pay you when or if they can.

Yes, you may get a ConMan to jump on board, someone like WALMART. Given the current situation, I rather stay with Skocic.

I hate to revisit this argument but part of me hopes Iran gets Oman in the group so Branko's tactical deficiencies can be exposed as Iranian with a memory knows how he sets up his teams. No proper shield for the back 4 and terrible marking on set pieces. Seems like a good combo for us
