He is good and he is pro. He is young and is he ambitious? If he is ambitious and wants to earn higher accolades in his profession with greater opportunities knocking on his door, this is probably his only ever chance. A team full of stars and determination. Some of the best of Asia are in TM and all they need to reach wc and even advance from the group stage is a stable, smart, intelligent, determined, ambitious and honest coaching team.

P.S. My point in this post is that I rather have a young ambitious coach - to whom earning and achieving higher accolades is more important than money - than a semi established/failed well known coach to whom money is more important than achievements.

I’m still unsure, but if they’re gonna keep him I agree with Leicester. First, remove Kanani from the starting 11 lol. Nourollahi is acclimating better within the team and he’s gotten more comfortable in that he’s connecting with the boys, he’s making the runs and executing defensive/offensive tactics to the best of his abilities.

But I strongly suggest fixing the CB issue and keeping a fixed 2 CB system in order for them to build chemistry.

If there’ll be any problems in Team Melli it’ll be coming from our central defense as well as our central midfield. We’ve seen remnants of improvement in that regard. But I still think it needs work and it can get better.

The man managed to get us 4 wins and dig us out of the hole that Wilmots put us in. He took a position which probably not other foreign coach would, probably didn't get paid on time as usual, and had to deal with all the COVID obstacles, no preparation, and the stacked odds by AFC, and now people are calling to have him sacked for another coach? Dang you guys are brutal.

IN REAL WORLD HE IS NOT QUALIFIED but heck is iran and anything goes.
Yeah make me the mayor of my city and with all the problems SEE IF ONCE I COMPLAIN about anything
Because i just be so happy to be the mayor knowing in no other city they wont even make me the city clerk(all respect for city clerk's) .
The argument of hey skocic deserves the job because he hasnt complain i my opinion is not ground to keep him as coach in such high profile position.
Yes he should definitely be top 3 candidate but all options should be on the table

MA DARBAREYEH TEAM MELLI BA KASI NA SHOKHI DARIM NA RODARBASSI

and if he is the coach skocic will have 100% support
Right. And Wilmots with all his pedigree or Mayeli Kohan/Ghalenoie deserve TM head coaching jobs? You act like we have a federation on the same class as Germany or France...in fact...your expectations mirror what CQ thought IFF was and could deliver. After 8 years he learned.

The Japanese have a proverb...the nail that sticks out furthest gets the hardest hammer

Funny how CQ went to Colombia with more footballing resources and infrastructure and did even poorer than with TM relatively speaking. Sometimes you gotta put your money where your mouth is.

And yes if you were the mayor of a poor city, and were constantly at risk of being scape goated by the media and citizens while being paid poorly you would complain and you prob would quit. Who else would be willing to lead a team all but eliminated...take on all the risk and know most of the reward from namak nashnas fans would go to a coach fired by Colombia even after winning 4 do or die matches under such miserable conditions???

Some of seem to be missing the point .. This is not about Dragon! This is about TM.

Manchester United hired Ollie Gunner with little experience in coaching and he proved to be a gem. Dragon can also be a gem, but that is not the question.

The real question is what is the plan? Coach is at most 50% of the equation. The planning, commitment, investment, support, guidance, etc. etc. etc. is what fills the other 50%.

You can hire the best and most experienced coach in the world, if 50% is missing he will be a failure.

We need to know what we want to accomplish first, then plan accordingly.

What is IFF plan????? how far do they want to go ???? How far have the Islamic leaders want football to grow in that country???

                My view on coaches.
Any time we hire a coach, some agents and insiders in IFF make money.

I do not know WHY IFF does not sue Wilmots? Probably some insiders made money such as Taj.

Iranians, in compare to crook lawyers in the West, are not prepared to sign a fair contract. We always end up losing.

Politics get involved in our football.

Iran has now good players. Iran will go to WC. Let us move forward and have some friendlies to prepare our players.

He said he is grateful of his work but this is a decision of the IFF management committee (heyat raeeseh) and he defers to that body. He is of course part of that body. Varzesh3 tried to dramatize his answer yet I think it was a professional one. He said that decision should come from the right body and he will follow that.

Wow this is very interesting news I was not aware he is out of contract now until I read this.

The holes in our defense and midfield will be exposed in the next round I don’t have confidence Skocic will address them since 7 games went by and we didn’t have to pay for them. As I’ve said several times already in the last couple of days…making the mistakes we have made vs HK, Bahrain and Iraq will not come without paying a price vs Japan Saudi Australia and SK. Under CQ the tactical discipline was so high that we didn’t see those silly errors with the exception of the game vs Japan in the AC.

First order of business is removing kanani from the XI inserting PAG back in and getting saman in for nourolahi. If Skocic open his eyes evaluate these games in a fair way then I will have much more confidence in him than I currently have.

I respect his ability to get results and very clearly being a step up from wilmots (which isn’t saying much) and I have always also said he is better than PGPL managers (with the exception of yahya, also not saying much) but this cannot be the standard for TM. The same way we have raised the standard in players who wear the shirt we cannot afford to do the same with our coach.

There are quite a few similarities between him and branko they both inherited 2 of the best generations of players we had but Skocic has gotten even better results (so far). I personally don’t want to gamble with him as our coach going forward but I also don’t want someone who isn’t super familiar with this group and our football to come in and start from scratch. So for me if in some crazy world we could get CQ back that would be a dream come true, then yahya I also really would like to see and if not him than Skocic has to stay. Too risky to bring in anyone else at this stage if we are being totally fair.

If his contract is expired, we should let him walk.
We got to the next round, and he got his 7-0-0 international record which will land him a high paying job somewhere in the Persian Gulf or China.

Stars are lining up for Javad Nekounam to take us to the WC round of 16.

How much do we think Skocic got paid for his tenure as coach up to this point? My impression was that after the Wilmots disaster with his fee, Skocic probably worked for very little to prove himself. I think he did a good job, but I agree that looking down the road to more difficult competition, he needs more high level experience as we had exploitable holes in the team. I trust him for the next round, but in the actual World Cup, I believe he would get exposed like Branko if he doesn’t shift dramatically.

He seems to be very amenable with the IFF and the league teams which in some ways concerns me because we’ve seen what pressure and influence from those entities can do to TM. Ultimately, if his contract ran out and he wasn’t earning that much, could he stay on as an assistant to a more seasoned/experienced coach, similar to CQ at Manchester United. I think that would be a best of both worlds situation where he could get that experience at the highest level at a World Cup and that would probably be great experience to make him a top coach. He has the tools, but I think experience is a key factor in international football. Expecting Skocic to devise a plan against the likes of Didier Deschamps if we were drawn against France is a tall order. CQ had the big game experience at Man U, so I think Skocic as assistant through the WC would be a big benefit to us, as we know CQ was an important and influential figure at Man U, so can Skocic be for TM, even if his title is “assistant coach.”

As reasonable as it sounds I highly doubt he would accept a demotion. He would simply quit.

Yeah that’s true, but just wishful thinking. I’d like to hope that if he had the chance to work with a high level coach through the World Cup and try to get us to the second round, or to leave and coach for a couple of years in China/Persian gulf countries for a payday, he’d choose to stay on as an assistant based on the opportunity to develop. Still it’s a career and he might see it as a head coaching job or nothing.

Ultimately, I think he’ll get us to the WC if he stays as HC which is important. I see him as focused on succeeding, so I think he has a high ceiling, but the gap in experience with some coaches we may face in the WC is large, so we’ll see. He definitely is better than average I say, it remains to be seen if he can be great, but that remains to be seen. Either way, I would like him to remain with TM through the World Cup either as HC or the assistant to a more experienced coach.

Skocic is ok and I think with him we can get to the finals. I am impressed with Skocic and all his press conferences. He also showed he is well versed with Arab antics and the fact he was able to get us 4 wins in the horrible circumstances that AFC and Bahrainis had created for us shows he is the man who can manage the horrible circumstances the Arabs create for us and take us through the next round where there will be at least 3 Arab teams in our group and we have to play in their grounds.

All I can say is that it's too late now to bring in a new foreign coach who is unfamiliar with our football and governing system (Total annoyance by all standards) So in my opinion we should do/don't either of the following:

1- Reinstate Skocic as the HC
2- Bring back CQ who is fully aware and prepared for all the chaos of the country
3- Do not put any Iranian coaches in charge as it will create relentless chaos, jealousy, division, lack of discipline, etc.

Every single world class will quit shortly after the appointment of TM coaching job. We have seen how some big names have literally fled the country: Stramaccioni, Calderon to name a few...

We have to be realistic about our goal, I know after 2018 many of us want to make the next round at a world cup but the reality is there is a lot of luck involved as well. Skocic can probably get us to the world cup, but come away with 1-3 points at most from what I've seen so far. do we want to risk missing the world cup and go for a 'world class' manager who can only potentially make us better?

For the me the goal is still to keep making world cups consistently. yes it will be easier on paper in 2026 and future due to 8 Asian teams, but as we've seen some of asias other teams have caught up, and we dont know the format of qualification yet. we must establish ourselves as a consistent team in the world cup. 2014-2018 was our only back to back appearance EVER. we still missed 2002 and 2010 do not forget that.

so let us qualify first, and worry about the rest later. if Skocic is the man to help us qualify then lets support him
