Korea are so much weaker than previous years even. Wish we had gotten australia just to mix it up, but there is nothing to be afraid of with korea and their dwindling pool of notable EU based players.

UAE wont be an issue. Nor will lebanon or syria, regardless of them trying to make it a "dogfight" they just suck too bad to do anything unless we have our worst game ever.

Iraq will probably again be the trickiest game.

Definitely easier than the other group, but in a way Id have preferred out team to face a big challenge with Saudi + Australia than this group.

The Key is Iraq. We should get 6 points from them.
2 wins against Iraq and we are through.

Is Omar Abdulrahman still playing for UAE?

I only remember them beating us in the Asian Cup and a friendly or two since then.

And even in the Asian Cup, I don't remember losing to them in regulation time for at least 20 years, maybe more!

I's start booking the plane tickets for the WC now!
yea but the fkers did tied us late 1-1 in our last WCQ game to deny us progress to was it wc2010..?? jonsoon park was it ? got the fking goal that broke our hearts..!
but ever since then they've been our bitch and i believe weve beaten them almost everytime... be it narrowly or did they get a tie in another mostly meaningless match ??
like i said we have the all important Confidence Advantage now vs them and im sure they are shitting their pants at the prospect of having to face us next round ..!
i highly doubt they could up us on points in the our two upcoming WCQs ...!
however FTB id give them the slight edge in topping our group, unless i see something unusual from IFF and a vastly improved in terms of our Preparation Schedule for the upcoming WCQs..!!?

Yea I agree. South korea has pretty much an old team but they are very very experienced . The fact that lebanon was beating south korea and only lost to them because of stupid amatuer mistakes, proves this. I don't even think this SK squad will stand in World cup (if they qualify). I have feeling iraq will take the 2nd place.

                Good draw.

While TM is professional enough to not underestimate anyone, we should definitely finish in one of the top two spots.

Three world cups in a row! Very enjoyable phase for TM.

iraq is very overrated here, this is where they finished in world cup qualification final round in past wcq final rounds

                  - they finished 5th out of 6 in 2018
                  - they finished 5th out of 5 in 2014
                  - didn't qualify to last round in 2010
                  - didn't qualify to last round in 2006
                  - they finished 4th out of 5 in 2002
                  - they finished 4th out of 6 in 1994

this is pretty horrendous. even bahrain, north korea, uzbekistan have had better wcqs than they have

                    Group A: 2 Big teams, 4 average
Group B: 3 Big teams, 2 average, 1 pushover (Vietnam)

If we had been in Group B, I have no doubt we would have beaten Vietnam, China and Oman. But then you have three big teams, and one has to go through playoffs.
In Group A, it's a more even group and even the worst team Lebanon, is not an easy win. Both Syria and Lebanon Will play us dirty and give us their worst football pitch. Yes, we do get to travel less, but all the teams in our group get to travel less also, except for Korea.

I think Group A is overall easier, we just have to get a good start and not dig a hole for ourselves.

They are not a good team, but they always play their toughest against us. And we usually play our worst against them. Same goes for Syria!

that 2 game streak over after our last win. they only good when we have 10 men on the field. thats only time they can win against us. one was penalty and one was a win against us with 10 men (shojaei and pooladi, what were u doing???)

I think we got the easier group but to play devil's advocate, we usually play down to level of our opponents and do well against strong teams. the one team I wanted to avoid was saudi arabia but besides that I think I prefer oman, vietnam, and china over iraq, syria, and lebanon

yes syria and lebanon are very weak right now but we have dropped points to them for 2014 wcq and 2018 wcq. UAE was more likely to drop points vs China and oman than syria and lebanon imo

I am glad we are playing Korea at home on first leg.

The win against Bahrain and Iraq has given our players a big psychological boost.

First three games against Syria at home, Iraq and UAE, away was greatly helped by our two wins.

I am expecting to go against Korea with 9 points. A win against Korea in Iran, and we will good.

                                Hoping anyways.
