Reading saudi's comments on social media and it seems they want US and asutralia . They think we are easy teams to beat. They wanna avoid iraq (their destroyer), south korea and japan.

So if the draw is rigged don't be surprised if they get these teams. Iran , Australia , Oman - ◄Saudi.

You need to be realistic. Japan is the strongest team in Asia. It is easy to understand that most or even all teams prefer Iran over Japan. I think even if Australia or South Korea or Saudi Arabia were in pot 1 with Japan instead of Iran, most or even all fans of all teams would have still preferred to avoid Japan.

Unfortunately Iran national team has terrible record against KSA and we have been fairly an easy opponent for them in the past. That is sadly true although we were always at our worst when we played them except Asian Cup 1996 and WCQs 2002. Except WCQs 1978, we have never finished above them in WCQs. (Ex. WCQs 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2010). Also keep in mind that KSA rarely drops points against lower seeded teams. They normally get around 16-18 points from their 6 matches against pots 4 to 6 teams. As I said before, Japan is safe regardless of what they get because they are too strong. Whoever avoids KSA out of Australia, South Korea, and Iran, they are almost guaranteed qualification to the WC 2022. Whoever gets KSA out of Australia, South Korea, and Iran, they will have very low chance for qualification to the WC. As I said many times, we need to avoid KSA for smoother passage.

I pray to see Iran, Australia, and UAE in the same group which is good for all these three teams. Regard pots 4, 5, and 6, It really does not matter to me.

The key is pot 3. If we avoid KSA, we will have high chance for direct qualification. If we do not, we will have low chance for direct qualification. The other pots do not matter much. I prefer Australia because we have not played them for a long time. I just want Australia and UAE from pots 2 and 3 in our group. Regard pots 4, 5, and 6, It really does not matter to me.

for whatever reasons (mostly non purely football related) we often under perform and simply dont fair well against the likes of Iraq, and Saudi's who are quality wise as a team are often at least a level below us ..! Oman also who are a side inherently clearly beneath us quality-wise but almost always play us fair but real tough..!
on the other hand we would have to grossly under-perform to loose points against sides like UAE or Syria , Lebanon.
SK and Aussies are a toss up games, we are not a clear favorite against neither team and it all comes down to our confidence levels facing each side and performing at our better/best levels to get a get favorable result vs them..! personally prefer to face SK as we've had their number in recent years under CQ and im sure they really dread facing us by now, hence i think the current confidence advantage will carry us through over them be it with likely narrow margin..! but i would be happy enough facing a refreshing new, challenging side like Aussies which we havent tested ourselves against for quiet sometime now..!!
Japan imo are still the overall elites of Asian football ... ! regardless of their knack for occasionally underperforming grossly against some ayrab teams(like saudies/qatar) who resort to too much gamesmanship in order to get a shock favorable result vs them. im glad we dont have to face them 1st and foremost then Saudi next.
so like i said earlier the easiest group for us to advance from would probably be SK, UAE, China, Syria, Vietnam or Lebanon ..!

Althought I understand what you're saying however thats not True. We have most win against them (in head to head). Saudi arabia has never ever beat us by more than one goal margine. They have always struggle to beat us .
even in 2002 world cup qualification they couldn't beat us . They managed to get 1 point with help of ref out of us. If it wasn't for bahrain we would've qualify instead of them. In other words they didn't cause us any problem , we messed up against bahrain.


Anyway, I would take uae over saudi but i still think we could beat them without any problem.

Exactly if we can avoid ksa it be great, even though judging uae dominating 2019 ac they are no pushover

I'm sure we can beat them. Between UAE and saudi i'll take uae but I also don't mind saudi.

Their coach is herve renard, we beat morroco with all that top quality players in world cup, never mind saudi.
