Frank rid today
he needed to give his side a shock and change things up in First half with a sub
it was clear that his game plan wasnt working for shitt and they couldnt get anything going attacking nor defending ...
also way too slow making changes at HT ..!!
Sammy was brilliant throughout his short spell...!
he was often (has been in prior games too) left open for shot top of the box but Brentford seem way too insistent in sending balls towards Toney who's double marked inside the box ..!!
Frank needs to instruct them to give him a crack from there once in a while...!! we know his incredible range and how he can hit them from anywhere around the outside the box too..!!
lets hope today's positive performance buys him a freaking start in the next league match ...!! on the paper at least looks a winnable fixture and they are desperately due for one to stop the worrying recent loosing streak..!

Samans goal was beautiful , made up for my disappointment in watching Liverpool blow a 2-0 lead against Brighton.
Brentford have an easier run of games coming up against teams who are are open. They need to start Saman in some of these games - he has earned it.
Also He has to play for Iran , the guy is too good to watch our midfield pass the ball back to our defenders because their is no one in front of them to link up the play with Azmoun and Taremi.
Some of us on here have been calling for a while now of Ezza and Ghoddos starting in the middle, get it done Dragan.

Really no point in dragging this poor guy halfway across the earth to play him maybe 20 mins vs lebanon in a field with no electricity.

Like taz said…..nourolahi and Sarlak can only dream of scoring a premier league goal on their PlayStations.
Can’t wait to see what creative excuse the Skocic fan club comes up with next on why not starting or even playing saman who is traveling across from halfway across the world, playing by far at the highest level of any midfielder, is head and shoulders above all our other midfielders (maybe with the exception of Amiri), isn’t a big deal.Team Meli Iran

In fact, Brentford coach is using ghoddos very similarly to how skocic is using him! Usually only brings him on when they're behind and need to take risks to try and score a goal. Maybe sometimes bring him on when it's tied.
Point is, it clearly seems that using ghoddos is a risk defensively. We already know he doesn't provide defensive cover that nouro or ezzatolahi do. Clearly Thomas frank is recognizing this defensive liability as well.
I like ghoddos a lot and he's a good player, and we're lucky to have him but defense comes first in football, and tm also has great attacking options already on the wings and In striker positions, who are clearly doing enough to create excellent chances to score in every match... So in the middle of pitch, skocic is making sure we're covered for defending.
We've conceded one goal so far in this round of qualifying... This plan is working. It's the right one.
If anything, this example today supports the argument above.... Saman is best utilized when we need to take risks and score while being down... Maybe sometimes when we're tied but need to win.

Brentford next two games are against Norwich and Newcastle- I think there is an argument to be made for him to be starting those games. After the last three defeats they need to bounce back strong - the Villa game showed how well he can link up with Toney and Mbuemo. Both of those two teams two are weaker defensively and unlike Burnley aren’t big teams either.
For Iran - there is also an argument for Saman (one that I agree with) to start games against your Lebanon’s etc . I can see why you want to be more cautious against S.Korea but it has been blatantly obvious that there is a problem with the link between midfield and attack . He is the best player we have at doing that (unless we drop Mehdi further back). That is why we have seen our front two struggle at times in the qualifying games and also why the ball is played back to our defender who are not strong with the ball. How many opportunities have we given up to the opposition by losing the ball due to having no out ball.
We should be starting Saman against these weaker teams.

What you are saying is that IPL players are better than English Premier League players defensively ? A third grade coach knows more than a PM league coach ? I bet his fitness is much higher than the IPL players given the fact that he plays in the best league in the world.
You want saman to be Messi to start for TM ? Half of IPL players can’t even run half the amount of played run in EPL.
Never mind , we can’t change the coaches mind but at least we should discuss the realities of the situation.

Defensively, saman does a 1000x better job tracking back than Ezi who is as slow as a turtle at times and much less prone to giving up dangerous fouls like nourolahi has an extensive history in doing and turning the ball over for holding onto it for too long. If you watched nouro in ACL and PGPL you’ll have seen this regularly in the last few years.
This thing about saman not being good or inferior to our other CM options in TM is nothing but a myth and it’s funny Bc all you have to do is watch one full game of saman in England to see the work he puts in when tracking back vs nourolahi who once again, has a long and clear history about being a liability in that department. Nourolahi as an overall CM and value vs Saman is not even comparable. Only Skocic is dumb enough to not see that.Team Meli Iran
