Good they kept 11 men on the field, fancy them to get the second in 2nd half with the fan pressure as well.

Porto's tactics are good imo. They press very well, looking for the quick combos in possession, very forward oriented.

The issue is the personnel have been gutted in recent years and keep getting worse. The back 4 bar pepe is a train wreck. This team used to have militao, now a starter for Real Madrid, Felipe, now a starter for Atletico as CBs just 2 years ago. In the full back slots they had Telles on one side, now United Starter, and a combination of Perriera (now leicester RB) and Dalot (now united RB). This was all within the last 2-3 seasons... OBviously the drop in quality from these 5 guys to the likes of zaidu, Joao Mario (a winger by trade), Mbemba, and random goozoo nobodies like Cardoso is insane. No manager can really account for that, the fact they remain as competitive as they are is amazing and testament to SC level as a coach.

I really hope that in the summer, if taremi stays, they can upgrade these fullback zones. Its where they concede all the chances on the transitions. These guys are just too shit defensively, not impactful enough offensively, and not good at stopping the counters.

Issue with placing another holder alongside Uribe is you lose the quality in possession which Porto have really improved upon in recent months with Vitinha and Vieira getting more integrated. In past they had guys like Ruben Neves who could do it all, now they have to pick and choose between defensive specialists and people who can actually give technical competence and forward passes.

and when taremi starts from midfield it will be a wonder if he scores! some players on that rooster are just dead weight with SC choices!

If you watch Sporting second goal it came from bad pressing and 4 defenders defending to high up the field..they got exposed badly.

to play with such aggressive high press you need defenders with strong recovery pace and decision making skills. Earlier on second goal JM could easily have committed small foul that would have at max been yellow and stopped the break, he failed to do so. ON other side zaidu is like leaving a giant hole on defensive end.

well i used to think Porto can do better with anyone playing LB than that goozoo, until they brought that loose canon, utter useless Wendel..!! then i was like sad rahmat be goozoo zaidu..!! lol he may be shitt too but at least he doesnt get himself sent off every other match he plays..!!

for a while there i thought i was watching TM .... just how many CKs Porto wasted this half...? like 10?? nobody even got close to getting on end of any of those CKs..!!
i really wish Mehdi would figure a way to get closer to action on CKs/FKs served in the box... he is almost always nowhere fking even close to any of them..?? he really needs improvement on that front as a big size target man...!!
