Mehdi was excellent.
Yeah he missed a good chance but he made a beautiful assist, hit the crossbar and defended admirably.

Porto suffers from 2 big issues:
- no playmaker, which is why Taremi has to play CM so often (not this game though)
- shambolic defense. Zaidu killed so many attacks on the wing because he can’t play one touch football. Cardoso and Mbemba also can’t defend in general and make Shoja and Kanaani look like Maldini and Baresi!

The thing with Taremi is 90% of forwards don’t get into those positions in the first place. He finds space and opportunity. He’s not a lethal finished though.

good point... especially the first sitter he missed... he totally saw the swerve on that shot ... knew keeper would likely spill it... and was right on the spot to put away the ball but not accurate from a rather narrow angle..

Really helped Gil Vicente as Porto couldn’t build up the momentum. It is a hard league to watch.

Cup match in 3 days (Wed, March 2nd). This will be an away match at Sporting. Will be another tense match for Porto. SC's player rotation management will be key.

His tiredness manifests in this way - he plays his heart out and moves around so much during his time on the pitch and although it doesn't show that much with his fitness levels, when it comes to his body positioning and taking chances it shows.

You are exactly right.

You can't hate on taremi for missing chances every game because he constantly puts himself in incredible places.

There are no strikers who score every chance. Even ronaldo and messi and salah and these types of players miss sitters/easy goals.

If you see the today's Liverpool Chelsea highlights you will see plenty of poor finishing.

No body should be "hating" on Mehdi for today's miss, or Portugal WC match. The man works his tail off every single match for club and country. He's had amazing goals, and some misses. If anything, our hearts should go out to him in these times for the immense pressure and frustration he feels when these last minute winners don't go in. He should be commended for placing himself in amazing positioning to even have the *opportunity* for these shots. Eventually, he will have these go in and get the well-deserved celebration and praise for a last-second winner.

Damn!! Mehdi could have easily scored 2-3 goals.
