azmoun played well, denied a 100% goal with a brilliant header. Tried to apply pressure in places where it made sense, created a few turnovers.
But man, nobody is within 5 sq km of him usually. Zenit are playing their old scaredy cat ways. This Juve team is pure crap and turns the ball over under even moderate pressure. Yet semak insists on positioning the team so deep. And if you are going to position the team deep, you at least need to make sure that they are aggressive in defensive phase. Zenit is the opposite, they basically shadow the juve players until they get inside the box and then try to block their wide open shots. Really a bizarre tactic, they should be losing by 3 or 4.
So weird to me why they adopt this approach. Leaves azmoun super isolated and uninvolved with the play usually.
Zenit on paper have team similar level to Porto. But compare how they play...one plays like their life depends on it, the other like a bowl of abali yogurt. All comes from the coach.
Azmoun played very good, he’s basically playing as a CDM and helped the defense with clearances and also prevented a scoring chance. Unfortunately he gets zero service in this shitty team, so frustrating that he gets 2-3 balls and that’s it.
