First goal his run was perfect. Its really important not to underestimate the timing of that run, 90% of CFs stray offside there after the passer waited a split second too much. Then the finish...he had a lot of time to think about it and maybe 2 years ago he would have fucked it up (like vs villareal in EL), not anymore. Made the correct choice to round GK and then executed.

The second finish he again timed it brilliantly, chose correct with weak foot chip, kepa made a great save.

If malcom wasnt an idiot azmoun would have had a tap in too.

Also some people said a few months ago he looks heavier or something, his speed is still phenomenal, but now he is gardan koloft too. Look at the seen he lays out a tank like christensen while running at full speed and compare to how upamecano manhandled him a couple years ago vs leipzig.

Azmoun is showing tremendous growth in his overall play. With a proper coach in a new league he can go to a very very high level.

claudinho, douglas have been very good.

Wendel and Malcom not so much. Malcom has never been good since joining for big money honestly.

Sometimes I do wonder where zenit would be if they made a couple smart transfer choices. There are better young russian wingers than malcom (look at the young kids Dynamo Moscow has, lesovoy and zakharian) and they could have used that foreign player slot to get more muscle in the middle of the park. Even somebody like Mathias norman who was in the league for rostov and is now norwich's best player, would have been a great addition to this team, or the pole kyrchowiak who was lokomotivs best player for seasons.

As a club, regardless of sardar leaving, they have a ton of potential to always be a power in europe, even more so than porto bc of cash resources.

so far it shows how much nerves and lack belief play a big part in Zenit's CL performances..!
today they are playing their brand of attacking football without pressures of end result and it shows in their game all over the pitch and every player's confidence levels..!!

i expect Chelsea to reorganize well and come out in 2nd half with much higher intensity, lets hope Sardar/zenit can manage the early proceedings of 2nd half well, or they could easily turn the match on its head again quickly

Claudinho has been good no doubt but he often plays for the option that makes him look better rather than the one that creates the more dangerous chance. A lot of these south american players in Zenit are trying to make themselves stand out more (malcom, claudinho) rather than what increases the chances of their team winning.
