If Azmoun was South American or European or African he would've been playing for and elite club such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter, Liverpool etc.he is too good for Lyon and Leverkusen who are not even willing to pay his transfer value or worth. I rather he stays at Zenit this season ans shows Juve and Chelsea what he is made of, like Taremi did last season against them.

Azmoun would be lucky to get any semblance of service against Juve and Chelsea. Mehdi was able to show himself cause Porto are a much better team with a better manager

Even Taremi made his chances out of basically nothing.

As expected, the transfer market is starting to move. If Mbappe moves to Real and Paris gets Haaland as a replacement (or another big name) and Ronaldo leaves Juve, it will be a domino effect. Teams like Dortmund, Juve etc. could now be looking for a striker.

With introduction of conference league the quality of EL will improve a lot.

Lyon frankly got least spectacular/easiest group with rangers, sparta Prague, and brondby. But they will hit big teams in coming rounds, plus 3rd place CL sides will drop down in next round to elevate the field even more.

Leverkusen group may be a bit stronger with Celtic,Betis,ferencvaros.

Also as mentioned Ronaldo sale opens up a CF spot at juve. Ofc they are not what they used to be but still some great world class talent like de ligt, chiesa, locatelli there. But I’m sure a smart signing like azmoun doesn’t fit their profile of being as financially irresponsible as possible and spending 30mio on a 33 year old aubameyang who is sick every other week.

That was Zenit’s last game until September 11th with the international break coming up. Will be interesting to see if Sardar goes to Iran for the training camp, he will need to stay behind in Europe for medical etc if by end of August so this is one detail to keep an eye out for.

Guimaraes and Paqueta are brilliant players. Their defense has some question marks but sardar would score boatloads in a team that has the potential to be one of the most exciting in europe.

If they fix their defense in the upcoming 1-2 years they can make deep CL runs too.
