Quite frankly, still shocked at how in just one day they are at the doorsteps of Kyiv. Honestly, outside US intelligence, no one could have predicted today’s events.
Not to get too off topic here, but US intelligence also predicted that Iraqis would greet US soldiers with flowers as "liberators". Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Pentagon was convinced Army would be greeted with 'flowers on rifles'

Even Ukrainian president claimed situation was under control and no war was imminent so difficult to see how players could gamble and leave country, breaking their contracts in the process.

Certainly much higher profile figures in Ukrainian football, like shakhtars extremely highly rated young Italian coach are stuck there.

Shahab is a tough guy. Sure he will be ok mentally...and on bright side he might have chance to get released and secure solid transfer. Remember that Portuguese teams, real valldolid, and some others were looking at him. That was before conference league goals too.

I think there are probably ground for such contract situations given that we are in WC year, plauers must be playing regularly to be in contention for their NT, and this indefinite suspension of league puts that in huge jeopardy

This “intelligence” is a puff, delusional piece. Difference between propaganda for domestic consumption and something imminent. Either way, we were both against US’s war in Iraq - so we can move on. This warning was legit and clear as day that it was going to happen.

Feel for Shahab, his parents must be terrified.

I wouldn’t be angry if Zahedi ended up at Ponf with Abedzadeh, their main striker is 39 and they are starting to cement their play in place off spots.
I’ve also said before that USG would be a good move too, under a good coach and looking like Champs League next season.

Transfer windows are closed everywhere except Iran. Of course he will land at PP

I think it might be a good idea for UEFA to allow an exception on foreign players' transfer from Ukraine and Russia. They should also ask for the right of safe passage from war zones since they are foreign citizens. Those will definitely be controversial decisions if they happen yet one could argue that UEFA already moved all the club and country matches of Ukraine and Russia to neutral sites (European competition matches) and moved the CL championship match from St. Petersburg to Paris. The strongest argument is safety.

                    Go Shahab!

Problem is with or without an exception how do folks get out? Shahab said traveling is not safe. Brazilian athletes pleading for help to get out made news yesterday. Even if these teams play in neutral countries they need a ceasefire to give them time to relocate.

Also apparently Fifa has a clause in cases of war international players can unilaterally terminate contracts and become free agents. If this is true he won't be bound by transfer windows in Europe.

Linked to Perspolis according to pfdc. I'd be happy to see a temp move here. Yahya is a quality professional coach so he'd be in good hands

We have an Iranian at everton, another at Newcastle, others in barsnley and charleroi. And nobody trying to help him for the next 6 months

The first 2 are money launderers, the 3rd has no power, and the 4th has done plenty!

Mehdi Bayat can do more - there are entire teams that are stacked with players of a nation (i.e. Brentford) because the manager or owner is from a particular country. He needs to bring more Iranians to Chaleroi!

Poya will get power once he keeps winning and get them out of relegation. He can then decide which players he wants.
