my take on it is that the team was so shit today cause they haven't played for a while and the European based players joined so late. Some individuals were good, but man, we should have beaten them like 3- or 4-0 at home, that was embarrassing...

I just wanted to say something about Milad... I think he needs to figure his club situation out or else we may need to move him away from TM picture for a bit.
I don't understand why we don't give Saeid Aghaei a fair chance to start instead of Milmo who has disappointed lately for us.

I also wasn't impressed with Salmani. I don't think he is TM material. Hopefully Moharrami gets healthy soon and he and Hardani rotate for us in these WCQ matches.
But LB is our biggest weakness right now and we may need to roll with Amiri there until Hajsafi returns, although Amiri is better in midfield.

I also really don't understand why Omid Ebrahimi is not getting invited. With Sarlak going down, that would've been a perfect spot for Omid. I don't trust Saeid's fitness to play 90 full minutes.

Also, hoping to see Ghaedi play some meaningful minutes against Iraq and have Gholizadeh come off the bench.

Going to be a tough game against Iraq as always, I am hoping we can learn a lot from this poor performance we just had.

Ugly win but a win is a win. I'm more concerned why the F Saman was taken out at half considering he was our best player by far...
Literally it was Saman vs Syria, he was a tank. I don't get it either, he was miles ahead of everyone else in terms of passion and seemed to be one of the few people on our team who weren't treating the match as a "friendly".

If we beat Iraq next week, then our chances skyrocket for advancing.
I would even say a draw would be a solid result against them, but we want the 3 points.
I don't think UAE, Syria would threaten us. If anything, Syria and UAE may take points away from Iraq.
I would think of Iraq as being our toughest opponent in this group, just because of the mental aspect of the game. Iraq can loose 5-0 to Japan, but when they face Iran they will be at 120% of their abilities.

But i wont agree with the notion, that Teams like Lebanon, Syria or UAE pose no threat to us. On a bad day we can loose or draw any of this Teams, it happen back in WCQ 2014 and 2018!
A recent example for the possibility of upsets just happened tonight, Japan loosing to Oman at home!

Let’s leave this CQ thing in the past now and focus on the present. Let us as well see how we get through this campaign.

We are clearly under dogs vs iraq
No we are not, the underdog approach was a Queiroz invention. Under Skocic we are clearly the favorites against all of our opponents, this is our mentality.

Skocic selections at LB was really poor
First he leaves Saeid Aghaei out, then he knows he is thing there, doesn't even invite Jalali. Then goes by Amiri and finally Milad who didn't play competitive game in the last 6 months.

Unfortunately I was unable to watch the live feed as I am out of country, however just watched the highlights and if I said I was impressed, I lied. But again TM has always had all kinds of surprises for us, luckily this time it was a bad surprise which ended on a good note thank God!

Sorry folks, I have been out of the loop recently, what happened to Azmoun? Why did he not play?

I would even suggest maybe playing Norafkan there but dont think thats a good idea either to throw him in vs Bashar and Iraq for first real senior start in competitive game.

Can it worst than starting a guy who until today hadn't played football match since June?

I still think amiri should start there, but his presence would also help mid cover more ground vs iraq.

Still, I think Ezatolahi,Nourollahi,Ghoddos,ARJ,Taremi has enough pressing and defensive workrate to hold a solid balance vs aggressive iraqis who will try as usual to make game battle of 50/50s, break up the play, etc.

Ghoddos engine in particular is not comparable to say 1 yr ago, ARJ is in much better shape bc he is actually getting regular football now. I would park saeid ass on top of CBs as a real shield. He doesnt need to waste excessive energy in his current state and focus on distributing the ball well, covering space in front of cbs, and winning aerials.

Amirir inclusion at LB also gives you somebody who can invert into midfield at times and give you an extra man there (Though I doubt we will play with such advanced tactics as we are still using the 90s yugoslav textbook, which ultimately isnt horrible but a bit outdated)

Is there taxi/reserve squad for injuries?
Because now we miss both Sadegh and Sarlak vs Iraq

                                i stop right there
I AM HAPPY FOR 3 POINTS
thats only positive thing i can say.
