Years ago, Qatar did the same and coach of U23 and National team was the same.
Qatar benefited from that policy.

Coach of TM second team which is U23 has to be In Iran and follow the games and developments of players. He has to have experience working with that age group.

Mahdavia beside Iran U23 has no experience as HC except youth assistants for years that did not end up to being a HC.
He is loved by fans and supporters and get away with requirement. He like to be a "parvazi " part time coach and show up for FIFA days . This will not be enough for U23.

Suggestion of extending Sko responsibilities to U23 is reasonable, since he is there and attending/ monitoring teams. He has few assistants and can hire more but this may be a wrong year because of WC Calander.

Mahdavi Kia is the coach for now and hope he can sign contract and dedicate his time with U23 in Iran as full-time coach.
If it is not possible with him then alternative coach must be selected ASAP.
Given pressing schedule coach should be experience Iranian coach with successful PGL managing job resume.
Unfortunately, younger coaches, Rabiei, Hosseini, Nekonam all are under contract and not available.
Not much option for AFC U23 games but there is time for China game and Olympic.

the problem to coach omid and teammelli b by above ok pgl coaches is the money CLUBS PAY MORE.
even lets say second level iranian coaches there is alotof them which cant get job in pgl with sallary equal league 1
little bit more WILL BE GOOD.. same for team melli b.
its not hard to operate this idea...
they can i all hold camp in tehran instead of going far
that should solve money part of the cost of training camps.

At request of Iran Olympic Committee, Mahdavia is preparing a list of 60 players.
No list yet but report said all players are under 23 with emphasis on U21 players.

It seems (my guess) report of list of 60 for IOC is based on Isna interview with Mohammadi (U23 Manager).

According to Mohammadi , he has spoken with Mahdavia and contracts are ready to be signed and delay was few debates over few options/clauses of contract.


" I also spoke to Mahdavi kia and it seems that the clauses promised in the past have been added to Mehdi's contract. these clauses had been agreed in the past but did not exist when the contract was set up.".


"48 hours ago, i talked to Mahdavi kia. the contract has been finalized, he said. i don't know if it's signed anymore, but i think it's okay."

Referring to the announcement of the initial list of the U23 players for the Asian games in Hangzhou, he said,
" it is a good thing for the players to win the Asian championship and we hope that the Asian games will be a prelude to our main goal of attending the 2024 Paris Olympics. it's also important for us to get good results at the Asian games."

Saman's chance to make it to TM depends to many unpredictable factors but he should stay, healthy, trouble free and hopeful.
In this thread last year, we covered him several times. His record has improved even compared to the last year. At Paykan Iman Akbari another U22 player is paired with him and are successful and this combo should be considered for Uzbekistan games...

Note: even then up to few weeks to the qualification Mahdavia refused to come to Iran.

Can this new issue with Azizi Khadem have negative impact on U23 preparation?

We don't have a coach; contracts are waiting to be finalized and signed and AKH is the one to say the final word and ink in his signature.

IF AKH opponent's inside board of directors are majority he will be question over many issues and unfortunately U23 and his contract even more..

For Qualification round against Nepal, Lebanon and Tajikistan Mahdavi Kia had 3 German assistants.
John Lammers (Assistant) , Miltner (GK coach) and Rosenberg Fitness coach).
There are report that Rosenberg and Miltner has resigned.
If true, this will make it 3 with Chia Foadi.


Problem with this so-called resignation is that it's not clear resignation from what jobs?
All coaches have short contract for qualification and their terms ended last year, new contracts have not been signed so they don't actually have a job yet to resign from.


Reports further claims contract for Mahdavi Kia and assistant id until Paris Olympic 2024 with options and payments in euro currency.

Euro payment for John is logical, but Mahdavia is Iranian and IFF in the past has been reluctant to agree to that.
Contract terms should be transparent with no secrecy and not for part time paevazi jobs.
For qualification Mahdavi Kia came to Iran for less than 3 weeks and initial list was prepared by Mirshad (Youth committee)/
New list of 60 also is prepared by youth committee as Kia has not been in Iran to monitor Azadegan and PGL.
Contracts should include a clause that each party can cancel contract after a year.

Azizi Khadem is in serious danger of losing his job if he cannot convince his opponents in next mandatory meeting og BOD with agenda to remove him/
