"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
Fair but disappointing score line. We got a practice match next and then the decider so hopefully the boys will gain some confidence in the next match.
The overall structure to their play started well again. You can see things they have clearly worked on like Fallah/Kor advancing the ball with quick pass between the lines to khodabandelou/Yasin who turn and tries to feed the winger for 1v1 situation in wide areas. As the game progresses, bc so few of them play regular mins at club level, they are prone to getting too emotional (see Kor's decision to charge into midfield for no reason on the goal conceded) and making bad decisions (Ghorbani long shots). Offensively they failed to execute in a lot of good situations, lack of proper CF is an issue. Khodabandelou and Yasin failed to calm and dictate tempo in second half.\, especially later on. They would be helped more with a more mobile player like Hamedifar or Zavari in the midfield, but Ghorbani was there for extra defensive cover and made some important tackles.
Good that they didnt lose hope and showed strong character. Shahriary after some bad headers scored a great goal.
All things considered, Solid opening result vs well prepared qatar side with many regulars at club level.
They need to win Tajikstan game next to have good chance of advancing.

Defensive flaw was repeated in all past 3 games
except during desperation time CB should not advance if he has no one to cover him. Both Kor anf Fallah advanced while Jafari or Hsashemi were on attack created chaos and unfortunately conceding goals
Mistake was not corrected.

They play Turkmenistan next, not Tajikistan.
