Erfan looks like the real deal, his dribbling is direct and accomplished to the point of being pretty special. Salmani showing his class too.

Unfortunate with penalty but…
Love the way they are using space and above all finding each other with a mix of possession football, press, creative and mostly forward and wing passing. One or two high balls.
Rarely we see Iran playing at national level producing a cohesive and unbroken passing game. No doubt a product of Mahdavikia’s own European and academy’s experiencesigpic

Holy shit Ghorbani is have a bad one.
Offensively speaking, just like last game, this team is more cohesive and organized than any TM matches I've seen under Skocic barring the Bosnia one.
Defensively, we play a bit too open and but that can be worked on. Also seems like the boys are bit relaxed. Hopefully Kia can get them to be more vigilant.

dominant half but 1 mistake led to 1 goal.
The general play of the team was excellent, creating many opportunities. Still think Yasin can be more decisive at times but doesnt help the CF provides no outlet whatsoever. Sadeghi also many giveaways, missed a certain goal following good cut back from jafari after lovely combo down left. Yousefi could be an option for him instead.
Shahriary, Yasin, Bavieh, Khodabandelou, Jafari are all combining very well and making regular chances. If they continue they will score again.
Ghorbani is strong and good aerially but slow and clumsy on the ball. In this regard Kor is superior (and multiple years younger with nowhere near senior mins Ghorbani gets for Nassaji) .Goal came from his initial giveaway under no pressure.
Likely move for Kia is subbing Shariatzadeh on at CF.
Turkmenistan are solid side, very physical and actually decent on the ball with sharp quick passing when they do get it. Omid should be wary.

We always expect from Iran in any tournament. One thing about this team we must appreciate that their pre-tournament friendlies have been next to zero, or playing home clubs and two games against Iraq. They are still finding themselves and improving.
On a more positive note, Mahdavikia must join Dragan’s technical team at the World Cup. Based on what I’m seeing he’s a MUST and will add great value to Team Meli.sigpic

Hazbavi may get his chance.
Kalmarzi shoulld have not been in the list he dosent have ground or aerial speciality and not smart player . He should be replace by Shariatzadeh or even Arya
I suspect Mahdavi kia will play Rostami again.
Sadeghi has been disappointment and selfish, ineffective, He may be replaced.

Red card for Bavieh. He goes in with studs. Idiotic.
High chance now Turkmenistan will beat Iran. Just not a very smart team we have.
Not impressed with the makeup of team. A lot of dives and no finishers."This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
