TM Omid playing much better - lack of proper forward really hurting the team.
Great job of taking the game to the Uzbeks.

Very few players go through the entire youth systema and then make it to the senior team. And when they do they usually perform poorly at the youth level - just look at these olypmic teams, the players they have, and how they failed!
92 - azizi, golmohammadi, shahroodi, peyrovani, manafi...Daei got cut!
96 - Nakisa, Minavand, Mahdavikia, Bagheri, Yazdani, Bezik
2000 - Mahdavikia (again), Yazdani (again), Nekounam, Nikbakht, Kavianpour, Karimi, Ansarian, Samereh, Khatbi...)
2004 - Rahmati, Talebloo, Saeghi, Kameli Mofrad, Badavi, Kaabi, Mobali, Kazemian, Navidkia, Zareh, Seye dJalal, Akbarpour, Nosrati...)
2008 - Kaabi (again), Haghighi, Oladi, Mahini, Pooladi, Meydavoudi - this was probably the worst Olympic team
2012 - Kamyabinia, Hajisafi, Khanzadeh, Sadeghi, Beyranvand, Jahanbakhsh, Mosalman, Ansarifard, Sadeghian - super good team that got eliminated due to fielding an ineligible player.
      92 team was the best

Iran has been better this second half. A sense of urgency.

          92, 96, 2000 and 2004, all excellent teams.

          They were such immature teams.

I think our team is actually at an ok place age wise and for future building. Not that much pressure to get players from this age bracket.

GK is set with deep pool that will all still be in prime next WC cycle. Rezaei is best GK from this u23, SS didnt release him (another parting gift from Majidi)

RB we are set with Moharrami and Hardani. Hardani is just a couple months old to play in this tournament.

CB - Majid is improving and will be our pillar at the back moving forward, Kanani is enterring his prime now. If PAG regains form, fitness in PP he will be in the mix still as an experienced head. Behind them Gholami and Aghasi, both of whom came through previous u20 side that went to WC (Shekari's team) are additional options.

LB is a question mark. This team has two promising players in Jafari and Ahmadi who might be of help there. Noorafkan who was somehow captain of previous youth teams will also be involved, but if what he shows so far is anything to go by we will need other options.

CM - You would expect Ezatolahi to be around, so would Mehdipour, possibly Ali Karimi. Here is where, putting this tournament aside, Khodabandelou and Yasin from this age group might have the talent to help the senior side. Yasin moving to europe is needed to ensure he doesnt peter out like shekari, and Khodabandelou will probably get a move to one of PP or SS this summer.

Wing - ARJ, Gholi, Mohebbi, Hosseinzadeh will be around and the last 2 are very young talents

FWD - Azmoun and Taremi are still going to be there, Alipour is a bit younger and a good option as well, Allahyar, Shahab.

So basically from this age group we are looking at 4 players that are even expected/hoped to be TM factors. Khodabandelou, Yasin, Allahyar, Hosseinzadeh. And ofc as mentioned, players who show the most promise here (u23) despite basically being at senior football level might not even ultimately develop into the best ones 2 years down the line.

Great move by Yasin there! That's what we want to see. Scores almost an unbelievable, Messi-esque like goal.

Brilliant run by yasin. Thats the potential right there, took a couple hits at high speed, stayed on his feet and maintained balance. Got through a bunch of bodies and great save by GK.
                Omid on top now

Arya Yousefi scores! Great outstretched leg to put that away. Classy goal.

Don't know why he was kept out of the starting lineup, last game.

                              Good goal by Arya Yousefi.
TM Omid has been much better in this half. Mahdavikia made very good adjustments for the social media crowd criticizing the poor guy.
