That's fine, our goal difference currently is +9 and theirs is -6. Anything short of their team turning into 2006 Italy and they wont manage the game on just counters.

        Iraq's team called up.
        Much different team.

Missing players include winger Humam Tariq, striker Mohanad Ali, mid Ahmed Yasin, striker Ala Abdul Zahra, 1st choice goalie Jalal Hasan, starting left back Ali Adnan.
They called up Zidane Iqbal from Manchester United.

Based on their team selection, I think they will go 4 at the back with their two obvious starting CMS Amjad Attwan and Saad Abdul Amir, with a more attacking option in front of them. They might risk putting Zidane Iqbal in that role. Then they will play with one striker and two wingers which one of them will be Bashar Resan.

Honestly, their team has a lot of inexperienced players especially at goalkeeper and midfield positions. It looks like we'll have the advantage on the wings since their 1st and 2nd starting LB are missing. They don't have that young kid Mohanad Ali so their striker options are a lot less dangerous. Zidane Iqbal is a question mark but no reason why our players can't stomp an 18yr old academy kid.

The goalie is also the same one that gave up 3 goals last time, not the goalie that turns into Prime Oliver Kahn when Iran is mentioned.

but then i found this aswell, also from tehrantimes

Iran will host Iraq in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Jan. 27 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Group A leaders Iran will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the third time in a row if defeat the Iraqi team at the Azadi Stadium.

Up to 30,000 fans will be allowed to enter into the stadium with confirmation of Iran’s National Headquarters for Coronavirus Control.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino will travel to Tehran to attend the match.

It seems the FIFA president is going to see the Iranian women in the stadium watching the match since he has previously said women have to be allowed into the stadiums in Iran.

Their new squad looks much stronger. Humam Tariq is garbage, Ali adnan didn't even have a club for 1 year and was completely out of form. Now they have Yaser Kasim back who was their best player during the Asian Cup 2015 and Alaa Abbas who scored the late winner goal vs TM in the last minute. Iqbal and Ammari are England legionnaires but not Premier League though. The only dangerous player that they are missing is Mohannad Ali. I hope Skocic and the players know that this Iraqi team without useless Dick Advocaat is a little different than the previous one they faced. If we don't underestimate them, we'll win.

What has Yaser Kasim done since 2015? 6 years ago.

Ammari plays for Goteborg and was born in Sweden. Iqbal is an academy kid who has a total of 5 minutes played for Manchester United against Young boys with no senior games.
They are also missing Safaa Hadi and Ahmad Yasin who plays in Sweden(who got injured in training this week).

Their squad now has potential to be strong 2-3 years from now but right now they seem pretty disjointed and just starting to clean house. Skocic is not going to take them lightly, but there is no reason to overhype them. Ali Al Hammadi plays for Wycombe Wanderers in League 1.

Highlights from their Uganda game. Even the chances they create, the finishing is abysmal just the bicycle is good.

Of course their level is way below ours. I am not saying that they are a strong team but compared to last time, they are better now. Ahmed Yasin hasn't played for years and also he is very overrated. Yaser Kasim had a few good moments in the Arab Cup. The only reason why they give us a hard time is because they get very motivated playing Iran. It seems like beating Iran is more important than to qualify for the WC lol.

But anything other than a win is a big disappointment, especially at home. If we don't receive a red card, we should be able to beat them without any problems.

We should never take any team, particularly Persian Gulf Arab teams, lightly. We must play with full concentration and our emotions in check.

In saying that - Iraq has some serious issues. They have major problems between their “expat” and local players. Unlike Iran, their legionaries often grew up overseas and often have big problems fitting in. Justin Meram went into great details about this on a podcast a few months ago, there are cultural issues that underly problems. Their new manager won’t have the personality to bring them together. They are missing their best striker, best midfielder (Haadi) and best defender (Adnan, out with an ACL). Their league is an absolute mess. I also think playing a friendly in front of a packed stadium of their home fans is an emotional “high” that they might find it hard to bounce back from. Again, I am not saying we should take them lightly and games are NEVER won on paper, but this should be a comfortable victory at home, if we don’t underestimate them and play as well as we know we can. As always against these teams, an early goal will be vital.

Doctor DOOM jan, I'm all for IR criticism but we had Ezatolahi in Atletico Madrid youth teams.

Also the 1st black player of Manchester United was of Afro-Iranian descent: http://www.persianfootball.com/forum...ker&highlight=

He'a an 18 year old kid who likes to play with flair. Box to box ball carrier or a #10. Obviously he's so young and has a lot of room to improve but I think debuting him in a game vs Iran would be a mistake. If he tries to make dribbles and fails them, his teams whole mentality will be shot and we will capitalize. As mentioned before there are huge rifts between domestic and foreign Iraqi players already.

He also is not known for defensive workrate. Everytime we struggle against Iraq its because their 5 man midfield presses us uphigh. Unless he has a miracle debut I doubt he will be that in sync with them. He didnt even play vs Uganda
