i think i'd still take my chances with Daneshmand still..!? although emrooz he rid royally, playing way too many unqualified starters and most all outa position to boot..!!

Well, a performance to learn from and forget. Here are my observations.
1- Loosing Shoja was key. Up to that point, Koreans did not have a single real chance. Gholami was not up to par. I would have gone with Esamilifar, yet I guess the coaching staff had other ideas.
2- Hajsafi is done. He should not be called again. If he had passed the ball to open Gholizadeh in the first few minutes, we would have been up 1-0 in all likelihood.
3- First goal was Abedz fault and it was partially unlucky yet he should have punched the ball out with force not allowing it to ricochet against his own feet. The other question is how in the world Son got the chance to take that shot. Shoja would have not allowed it.
4- Missing Taremi, ARJ, Saeid, Ghoddoos and Mohraami in that order showed that we do not have enough depth when loosing five starters.
5- Skocic should have gone with double change in the half and replaced Hajsafi with Sayadmanesh too. He ended up being our best player.
6- We need a COVID-19 risk management plan for the WC.
7- We have a lot of work to do and with the lack of planning and POT 2 possibility gone, are chances of making it out of the group stage just got lower.
8- People waiting for this opportunity in the sidelines or behind the scenes will call for Skocic's head now. I disagree. It's good that we had the loss now. We just saw how his reliance on experience and playing together was actually working but it will not be enough for WC. Instead of a new coach, we need world class preparation and with this IFF and IR, I doubt it will happen. I love to be proven wrong.

This was a tired and demotivated TM playing after one full practice session!

I also hope it shows our dear Esteghlal fans on instagram and in the media, that just because someone is in esteghlal doesn't mean they have to be in TM (Gholami).

Yep me too. First loss. Aussies lost by same score to Japan. Every team has good and bad days. So far 1 bad game with a depleted jet lagged team is nothing to cry about.

he has no consistant staregy. still inviting hajsafi is way too suspicious. he was lucky we were not in the other group.

i dont get how he figured Hajisooti to still be a useful veteran and dismiss quality CMs in mold of Dejagha and Ebrahimi upon starting his job...!??
or turning the blind eye to Ramin in our struggling RB position repeatedly with no natural back-up RB and inconsistent and often injured moharami as a starter...!

its obvious he is a Yes man and on certain many key decisions, he looks to be following orders from above..!

1) In the first 15-20 mins, we actually played some excellent football. Good passing, superb defending, held some possession - it was an even game. Once Skocic made the Gholami sub, it just didn't work out. His first cap for TM in a must win game wasn't the time for it. Looked nervy.

2) Abedzadeh did make up partially for the mistake with that amazing double save, although the first goal was really a sooti of the highest order. If that doesn't happen, it is much easier to lose to a goal they scored not caused by unforced errors. I would rather have Beiro start since he has done a consistently great job for us in high-stakes tournaments.

3) No more Hajsafi in TM. Period. Same lesson as Shojaei

4) Skocic made some mistakes here IMO but honestly, we were really unlucky with the Shoja injury ruining the game plan. Unless other people can name an alternative coach within the realm of possibility seems like a moot conversation to call for him being fired

5) With Taremi or JB in this game, we win or at the worst get a draw. We don't lose. Like others have said, the composition of this team was pretty much a B squad.

6) Also people knew this was going to be an incredibly difficult match. Stop acting like a loss is totally out of the ordinary and shocking when we had a depleted team. Disappointing, but not at all shocking

This coach could have certainly done better but to be fair he was missing key players and they had one day to prepare. The goal that Abedzadeh gave up was technically worse than the one Berianvand gave up in the windy conditions. Coach was relying on solid defense and great goal keeping to come out with a 0-0 tie. That last second mistake by Abedzadeh was totally demoralizing. Let us face it we do not currently have very many good active players. Missing Taremi and an out of shape Sardar exposed all of our shortcomings. Let us hope our few good ones are in shape and ready to go in Qatar. Keep the coach. By the way, I made a comment about Milad being solid defensively and someone suggested he was not playing. I decided to drink my coffee and it still looked like Milad was playing to me.
