For me, I just want to see Iran get to second round before format changes and WC loses it's prestige a bit. Japan, Korea, even Barbaria have been to the round of 16 and we haven't.

Same with me brother. I too want to see that advancement from group stage... I could care less who we play in WC... I want us to have a strong mentality when it comes to this... it's the same with our koshty.. always looking at the draw and see who we are wrestling. If we are that good, claim to be Asia's #1 team, then let's show it to the world.

We were for the previous few years, but I would say Japan, Korea, Barbaria are now stronger than us, certainly are playing better than us - and seeing the investment they've put in and how they've been playing in the other tournaments I wouldn't trust us to beat Qatar.

I just want us to be lucky and somehow get through to the second round to give some joy to the suffering people of the country.

Japan is most certainly above TM. With Korea and KSA i am not to sure... This is my HUGE issue with SKO, against Korea we played WAY beyond our potential. We gave the ball to the Koreans, let them press us and just park the bus. I don't want to see us parking the bus against any Asian side. Not with players like Taremi, Azmoun, Ghoddus, Jahanbakhsh, Sayyadmannesh, Ezzi and Amiri.

Literally the most exciting event in world football.

I remember the few missed heartbeats of 2018 when I saw Portugal and Spain, the slight optimism of having Nigeria and Bosnia in our group, and the absolute madness of being grouped with Mexico in 2006.

Damn, I just found out that Tunisia will be in the same pot as us. That was one team where I really believed we could beat. And Cameroon is in pot 4. I would much rather face Tunisia than Cameroon. How come they are in pot 3 even though they had a bad Africa Cup?

I hate to say it but I think the 8-0 Barbies are better than us at the moment, they have really invested in their team's fundamentals and they play much more in sync than they did 4/10/20 years ago. I'm kinda glad our current TM wasn't in the same group as them...

I love both Ghoddos and JB but are they performing better than e.g. Hwang HC, Lee JS, Lee DJ etc...? I don't think so

We were used to having players like Mahdavikia and Nekounam as midfielders who were the glory of Asia at the age of JB and Ghoddos.

Only Taremi and Azmoun are our A-list players and I don't think it's enough against other top asian sides which have improved so much recently...

Cameroon haven't even qualified yet. It's Extra time vs Algeria right now so it could be Algeria as well.

Fair enough, but I remember the anger of the algerian fans when "little Iran" beat them away in the 2018 friendly And Morocco of course.

Interestingly looking at the first game against Tunisia (2-2) when Queiroz was only one year in, it's amazing seeing how bad the discipline and shape of the back line is.... It's amazing to see how much things changed from here onwards
