I think we have lost our most recent friendly against Tunisia under CQ.

I remember we were missing a lot of players, among them Taremi and Azmoun. Both of them played 4 days later against Algeria in another friendly match and scored goals which we won 2-1 by the end. Besides, the referee for the Tunisia match was a disgrace and didn't give us a clear penalty on Ansarifard. One of the worst calls I've ever seen from a ref.

We will beat Tunisia if we get them in our group. Mark my words!!

At least Qatar are ranked a fair amount higher than Russia were in 2018, and are the continental champions.

In regards to 4th seed, will we automatically avoid the South American playoff team since they’ll be playing off against UAE/Australia? It would be fortunate for us to avoid Peru. There are several dangerous 4 seeds this World Cup, Ghana would be great for us. Portugal-USA-Iran-Ghana is what I hope for.

These Tunisia highlights bring back the pain of that terrible decision not to take Khalatbari to the WC

Looking at the pots take shape, I think an ideal group would be Portugal, USA, Iran, Ghana/Cameroon.

The other alternative that would be good would be Portugal, Uruguay, Iran, Ghana/Cameron.

Neither is easy by any means, but would at least allow a fighting chance at 2nd round.

this mexican team is particularly weak. US have much better squad but weak coach and naive team in general. Canada honestly nothing special, pretty inexperienced. Costa rica on their last legs.

I'd love to face Mexico just as a rematch/revenge for WC 2006. We can totally take them now, especially since we have Abedzadeh/Beiro in goal, rather than slick rick (ie Mirzapour).

Mexico is way more dangerous. They have a style of play that just exposes us badly.
Even in 2014 they barely qualified yet when it came to the World cup they were ready. They have pedigree.

Honestly, no matter how the draw is gonna turned out on Friday, it can't be as bad and scary as the last world cup. Who in the right mind wanted to be in the same group as Spain, Portugal and Morocco. We got an unlucky draw but did pretty good. I am thinking if you don't raise the bar for Iran it will never improve. I like to see the toughest draw possible. I want England, Netherland and Ghana.
